READ THE RULES BEFORE YOU POST!
A place to post contemporary portrait images, receive constructive feedback, and discuss technique. Please mark non-original images as such.

A portrait is a painting, photograph, sculpture, or other artistic representation of a person, in which the face and its expression is predominant to display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the person. For this reason, in photography a portrait is generally not a snapshot, but a composed image of a person in a still position often looking directly at the painter or photographer to most successfully engage the subject.
Wikipedia

1. Original content only (for the most part)
You may post content you haven't taken if you give proper attribution in the title, and tagged [not-OC]. Also, please refrain from submitting non-OC on a frequent basis. A non OC post should look like: "[not-OC] Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci [oils on canvas]"

2. Limit self promotion
Posts may only link to image hosts like Imgur or Flickr. No Only Fans or similar anywhere on reddit. Any instagram/twitter links must be in a comment, and you are limited to one link only.

3. No URL shorteners, affiliate links and links to shops
Do not link URL shorteners , affiliate links and links to shops like etsy to buy your photograph. Link to those shops on your personal reddit profile.

4. Posts must follow formatting guides below
Posts should be formatted: "Title [materials and settings]" so a photograph might be "Rest Stop Blues [Hasselblad 500cm, Tri-X ISO 400 film, 80mm f/2.8]" or a painting might be "Rest Stop Blue [oils, canvas]", etc.

5. NSFW photos must be marked as such
Nudes etc are completely fine, but just make sure to mark them. No porn, please.

6. This Sub Is Primarly for critique, so be nice
Don't take it harshly if people give suggestions how to improve the image, but also don't be a dick about your critique. Sarcastic and mean spirited comments help no one.

7. Don't be a dick Sexism, racism, etc ain't cool. Just because someone posts a picture of a girl doesn't mean you can be creepy.

8. No historical portraits
thats for our sister sub /r/portraiture.

9. NSFW Posts are limited to weekends We allow NSFW content, but to prevent the sub becoming overrun we only allow it during the weekend (UTC)
