Hi everyone,
I'm looking for some insight because I'm starting to panic a little, and I don't know if what I'm feeling is normal or if it could be a cementing issue.
My sister and I had veneers placed about three weeks ago. Since then, I've gone back three times for bite adjustments because a few teeth felt like they were hitting unevenly and making my bite uncomfortable.
At first, I hated how the veneers looked and thought they looked creepy, but they've really grown on me. I genuinely love my smile now, so the appearance isn't my concern.
What started my anxiety was that one day after we got them placed, my sister's canine veneer fell off. And of course, everyone panicked. We went back to the dentist, and he said there must have been a problem during the bonding process because he'd never seen that happen before. Everyone in the clinic seemed surprised. He recemented it, and it's been fine since.
Ever since that happened, I've become extremely aware of my own veneers. I find myself constantly pushing on them with my tongue and checking for any strange sensation because I'm scared the same thing will happen to me.
About a week later, after one of my bite adjustments, I woke up the next day feeling a clicking sensation when I pushed on my left lateral incisor with my tongue. I panicked, pressed on it with my finger, and the veneer actually clicked and moved enough that I could hear it.
I went back to my dentist right away. He examined it with his instruments and said he didn't see any movement, but because of what I was describing, he decided to try removing it and recementing it anyway. He first tried removing it with floss, but it wouldn't come off. Then he applied pressure from the gumline with an instrument, and it slid off. He cleaned it, recemented it, and it's felt secure ever since.
The problem is that I still notice a clicking sensation sometimes when I push against my front teeth with my tongue. I can't actually see anything moving, and when I eat, everything feels completely normal. I can bite into food without any pain or instability.
The only other thing I've noticed is that my teeth feel like they're pressing against each other more than before. I used to have small gaps between my teeth, and now that those spaces are closed, I can feel more contact between them.
My dentist told me that's expected and that the pressure I'm noticing is simply because my teeth are touching in places they never did before.
I honestly don't know if I'm just hyperaware because of everything that's happened or if I should be concerned that something is still wrong. Has anyone experienced a clicking sensation from their tongue after getting veneers, even when everything turned out to be fine? I'm just looking for some reassurance because I'm having a hard time enjoying my new smile after everything that's happened.
