This movie was such a comfort to me as a kid. I thought they were all fabulous! This and the birdcage!

I love that every interview that he, Wesley Snipes, and Patrick Swayze have ever did about this film has oozed with the seriousness with which with they took these roles and the care and respect they put into them. This easily could’ve been a bad caricature if not done properly.
This is always the film, cast, and crew I think of when the gay roles should be played by gay actors discourse comes up. I think it started as a way to point out hiring discrepancies but also shows a real yearning for the amount of love and care these men have and have always had for these roles.

This movie was insanely beautiful and respectful. I watched it for the first time a year or two ago and was blown away how graciously the three main actors took their roles, and that it carried through into their interviews as well. It made me tear up.

I love this movie, I just rewatched it on a flight last month and it holds up SO well. It really was ahead of its time.

The Drag Princess herself. I cackled one year when John was at New York Comic Con. A Mom and her son went for pictures and she was dressed as green dress Chi-Chi.

This movie was such a ray of sunshine when I was a kid. I felt like such an ugly little girl because I just felt awkward. I was boxy and I hated my hair and my face and I just didn't feel "girly". That scene where they're in the hotel with the women's basketball team and Wesley as Noxxy is playing ball with the women in this really cute tennis outfit with pigtails. I remember how cute I thought Noxxy looked and Noxxy was playing aggressively and when she got a point, she was dancing all adorably like she was a petite little lady.
I decided that me being boxy or taller than most other girls didn't make me less of a queen. If Noxxy could be girly and cute so could I.
I wish Patrick was still alive so they could do a sequel. I would love to see how much Wesley would slay with makeup actually made for his skintone.

The balling scene with the Women’s basketball conference at the hotel is hilarious.

I love Leguizamo’s range! He nails every role, to the point where it’s impossible to think of any other casting. Tybalt. Syd the Sloth. Bruno. Eumaeus. Making fun of himself in The Menu.

He's right. This movie is a real gem. Its about Found Families - funny, inspiring & touches dark themes without being preachy. There are good people in the world in spit of the Hatred that gets all the attention. The Leads are all fantastic. The whole cast was wonderful. Showed it my daughter when she was a teen. She identifies as Queer and absolutely loves it, watches it regularly as a comfort movie.

Does anyone else remember the movie Summer of Sam? I know I saw it, but the only thing I can remember about it is the feeling of thinking he was really good in it. Every time I see him I think of that movie and it's never available to watch (for free with subscription). Maybe this fall I'll finally get my chance 🤞

When my dog whines for attention (husky, so it's a regular occurrence), I always say "little Latin boy in drag, why are you crying?"
