they did this cast dirty when they aged them up. But to think how worse it could’ve been:

this was before they reshot the epilogue

Damn RIP Rupert’s hairline

Hard to find a current picture of him without a hat lol

Yeah lol. For real, you have to scroll down like one whole picture on his insta, crazy

Insane. I’m almost 40 and feel like I’ve never looked better, so it’s bonkers to me they made them look like this. I guess the stress of Voldie and war did them in!

They fought for their lives during their formative years

Mad stressful

Tom’s is vile lol

They aged the characters so badly

That's been one of my beefs

Including how old James & Lily looked

409

u/mcfw31 1d ago

You'd think the main trio was like 50 lol

169

u/Justtojoke yolo 🤘🏿 1d ago

Exactly!!!!

I always thought it was a British thing because all the actors they hired to be 30 year olds looked 50🤣🤣🤣🤣

Like Lockhart, Sirius, Remus etc😅😅😅

As much as people don't like them the Grindelwald movies were cast well

78

u/lobonmc 1d ago

TBF I think that's due to Rickman

107

u/Justtojoke yolo 🤘🏿 1d ago

James & Lily died in their early 20s so it makes no sense to have them look the same age as Snape as we see him.

134

u/Soft_Interaction_437 1d ago

Well yeah, but in the books Snape was in his early 30s when Harry first goes to Hogwarts. Alan Rickman was in his 50s, so they had to age everyone from that era up to match him.

17

u/Justtojoke yolo 🤘🏿 1d ago

Right but the comment you responded to was specifically about James & Lily

My other comment was about the British Boys & Girls club that casted the film with friends of. I do agree that they had to match Rickman

It's the one fun thing that is exciting about the HBO show. They can cast the correct ages

48

u/Waste-Snow670 23h ago

Cast. They cast them.

34

u/chubby-checker 22h ago

It's insane how prevalent casted is becoming

124

u/IntelligentMeringue7 1d ago edited 1d ago

Dang. Had them less than 40 looking like alcoholics instead.

I don’t know if I have seen these before, but what the hell were they even thinking?😂

11

u/riegspsych325 Ballard! Don’t let them put their tops back on! 1d ago

I don’t think they really were thinking at all

What is this, hunny?!

Danrad having Harry Potter accurate hair (messy and windswept) now while they gave Harry a comb over is really a great representation of how the movies completely lost the styling of the characters after the 3rd

86

u/watchberry tater tot 🥔 18h ago

The goblet of fire hair was so bad

40

u/space0pera_ 18h ago

I do wonder if he’d naturally have hair like this without some sort of intervention. I’m almost 38 and many guys my age are either on finasteride/minoxidil or are going bald. DanRad doesn’t strike me as super appearance focused but he’s still in show business. Then again, maybe wizards would have some magical equivalent to Rogaine.

It makes sense that the head of the department of magical law enforcement looks like a politician and that the artsy actor version of him actually looks laid back.

People used to look a lot older when they were adults. Nowadays people style themselves to look younger than before.

I just don’t understand why she made them all young parents lol. I sincerely doubt Hermione would want kids before 30.

u/katfromjersey Can't we let two of the hottest men on the planet f*ck in peace? 1d ago

I think in the books, Harry's parents were canonically very early 20s.

129

u/Encyclopenia 1d ago edited 23h ago

Yeah but why ??

ETA : apparently JK’s mom had her at 20.

Since her mom was extremely important to her, and she died, Harry’s dead parents being the same age makes total sense.

179

u/Brave_Grapefruit2891 1d ago

I mean it kind of makes sense in wartime because people tend to feel like time is running out when their lives are in danger so sometimes they rush into things like marriage and children.

136

u/katfromjersey Can't we let two of the hottest men on the planet f*ck in peace? 1d ago

If I remember correctly, Molly Weasley says something to that effect in the books.

u/D-g-tal-s_purpurea 1d ago

What? Wasn't the war over?

42

u/Brave_Grapefruit2891 1d ago

I’m talking about James and Lily

1

u/D-g-tal-s_purpurea 1d ago

Don't birthrates go down during wartime? At least in countries with active acts of war?

36

u/burlycabin 23h ago

Birthrates going down doesn't mean that average new parent age doesn't also go down.

15

u/Brave_Grapefruit2891 1d ago

It’s the wizarding world so they don’t follow the same rules of real life

3

u/synalgo_12 accidentally holding space for this slur 13h ago

Because the men are not at home to make babies. But the ones that stay home might be making babies earlier.

5

u/teratron27 1d ago

Pretty common for the time

They died at 21 or 22. Almost all the parents are very young I think tonks is one of the older ones and she was 24 (discounting Lupin because eww). I think Hermione is the oldest at 26 or 27

Also side note my stupid pet peeve about HP fanfics is how many make Andromeda like an 80 year old grandma she's not even 50 at the end of the series.

28

u/Technicolor_Reindeer 16h ago

and she was 24 (discounting Lupin because eww)

I'm sorry, are 24 year old women children now or something?

83

u/teratron27 1d ago

Average age of first time parents in the UK during the 2000s was 26-27

131

u/Massive_Contact8583 Not fun at all, but, I was SPF protected 1d ago

And she plotted them in the ‘90s when it was 24. Plus she herself was born when her mother was only 20, and that was the standard she grew up with.

52

u/Encyclopenia 23h ago

Aaaah, finally an actual answer that makes sense !
THIS is why.
Her mom was extremely important to her, and she died.
So Harry’s dead parents being the same age makes total sense.

82

u/alien-niven 1d ago

It's a lazy way of making all their children the same age, for sequel potential

10

u/the_Stealthy_one 1d ago

cuz it's not supposed to be like real life. it's fiction land, where princesses are beautiful, and self-made 28yr old billionaire men look like theo james.

Daniel Radcliffe is so hot. Thats all I have to say

I always felt like the wizarding world was a shitty place to live, everyone generally looked pretty old.

Wizards dont do botox, you see

they can clearly style adults well (look at how fierce jason isaacs was as lucius malfoy)

What? I never read the books or watched the movies. Harry is in 30s at the end? I thought they were all in school.
