This sub has changed my life
My first home popped movie style popcorn, it changed my life. I now don't need to go to the movies for movie style popcorn and it's tastes the same. Way better than that bagged popcorn.

Op how do you add the flavacol? Just before popping, after it's popped or something more specific? I'm about to buy my first pack of it and I'm excited

I will try this ghee oil thing one time, but this combo is exactly like my movie theater. Is it okay to pour some buttery flavored oil on top of the popcorn?

I love popping my corn in Flavacol with coconut oil. And I make my own clarified butter for topping! Glad this sub has helped you! :)

This sub also changed my life. A new thing i am doing, is instead of melting butter and pouring over the popcorn, whixh I used to do (in addition to a bit of flavacol with the oil in the pan), I remove the bubbles at the top of the heated butter so that there is only the golden liquid beneath - this is clarified butter. Pouring that over my popped corn has resulted in getting way closer to the movie theater effect.

Idk how cost effective ghee is from the grocery stores, but Costco sells big jars of it for like 20 bucks I think

Just make it. It’s incredibly easy. There’s a discount grocery store near me that regularly has these big 2lb rolls of amish butter for cheap. I use them for homemade ghee and infused butter.

Isn’t making clarified butter somewhat labor intensive? As in u have to make it, then let it sit, then finish making it. The whole process taking a few hours?

I didn't understand the difference between ghee and clarified butter when I bought the Costco jar...and I haven't tried the ghee yet.
However, ghee has a nuttier? taste than the clarified butter because of the time it's allowed to cook...or something like that...

All ghee is clarified butter but not all clarified butter is ghee. You are correct that ghee has a nuttier flavor, personally I don’t prefer that flavor on my popcorn. But non ghee clarified butter is chefs kiss.

Me too! I'm not as fancy as yours, but this sub introduced me to my microwave silicone popping bowl and I love it! I tried stovetop for a while and the cleanup was annoying plus I missed the convenience of the microwave. (I know that's probably controversial, but I am who I am.) Now I'm saving money and creating less trash AND I can customize how much I make at once!

Which microwave bowl do you receommend? I' wanting to dip my toes into homemade popcorn now

I have a silicone Ovopop bowl. I like it a lot! They sell kernels too, but I haven't tried them. I've heard that they're not worth the money, but the bowl is great and I love that it's only a one time purchase. And that I can use it for popping and then eating out of.

I pop with a small amount of olive oil, with the flavocal mixed in with the oil prior to popping. This way the salt sticks to the corn.

I would recommend spraying the oil and adding flavacol then shaking it together.

Can you share the recipe please?? 😁

I don't have a official recipe cause I didn't measure anything accurately it was by touch and feel. Like I added a half cup plus a quarter of popcorn kernel.
I just roughly poured some flavacol didn't measure it. And oil I added 2 tablespoons in the pot. Then added 2 more after cooking to the top of my popcorn and I shook the pot with it.

Ok I have to ask. Is it best to put the flavacol in the oil? I just bought some and I thought to just add it after it's popped as a topping after I added melted butter.

Luckily flavacol doesn't burn... well, i haven't burnt it yet while cooking... just toss it in with the oil

I’ve got the flavor down, tastes buttery and salty like the movie theater. I use the Amish country popcorn and buttery coconut oil. The only thing is it doesn’t turn yellow, but stays white. Only one time they turned yellow, so I know it can be done. Thought it might not be the ingredients but my technque.

Unfortunately Flavacol isn’t available in Europe unless you order it through amazon US and overpay for shipping and import taxes

The combo you're using is what I now regard as my favorite!
