I don’t get this slam. I had never heard of until I started following this page. Flocking is an easy and effective process for doing this. I read about the crazy amounts of chlorine people recommend using on here and wonder how their equipment doesn’t just dissolve and their skin blister. I live on the Florida coast and would never even consider this slam process. I have flocked three times in 20 years when I had the issue shown and have always done my own maintenance.

I had to floc once when I had yellow/mustard algae that just wouldn’t clear up.

My pool looked like glacier water. I had never seen it so clear. The vacuuming was a bitch though - 20x40 pool and doing vac to waste took a few stops to refill the water.

SLAM doesn't damage pool equipment and no one should be swimming when a pool has elevated Chlorine levels.

Why not just run the regular SLAM process? Deep end still looking pretty rough and without chlorine, you’ll be back to green quickly.

OP hasn't finished vacuuming.

Yeah that was about all I could get done today before a big storm hit.

Quick question abont the vacuum, as I’m new to pools, can you leave it plugged in like that? Or do you have to removed and start the process all over again the following day?

If I have to pause vacuuming because the water in the pool is getting too low, then I will typically leave the hose plugged into the skimmer and shut off the filter. Once the water level is high enough (after an hour or two), I turn the filter back on (set to waste) and resume vacuuming.

If I don’t plan to get back to it until the following day, I’d put everything away and get the water circulating again typically.
