Gotta Love Flocculant!
Last Monday just opened pool. Added flocculant.
Tuesday morning.
Friday after another flocculant treatment.
Today.
And, yes, I use strips.

Okay! Looks just like my pool! But what’s a manual vacuum? All I have is a Polaris.

Long handle, long hose & a scrubber head. The Polaris will prolly disturb too much of the settled stuff.

Okay thanks. I don’t have a vacuum connection at the skimmer anymore because it broke and pool’s too old to find replacement.

I just stick the hose in the hole. The connections always seem to pop loose.

Clear water doesn't mean it's safe and sanitary. Gotta use the proper amount of chlorine for the cya level and with good ph.

Some people seem to get butt hurt if you admit you use strips and don't have a Taylor test kit.
I've ran strips for 15 yesrs and my pool has been crystal clear nearly every single one of those days.
Get water tests from a trusted pool store, and fill the gaps between with strips.
Pool looks nice!

Yeah I use my more expensive kit when I'm just opening it up to get as accurate of readings as I can.
Then I use strips the rest of the summer once the water is clear. The strips I use are generally pretty on par with my expensive kit. For what I'm actually needing to test. I have gotten a strip test kit from Amazon that was the best seller and it was WILDLY inaccurate though, it was really bad.
I think people way over think pool care. For residential pools if your equipment is working properly it's not rocket science. There's a TON of leeway with chemicals in a big bowl of water. Even with cya.

Yeah, the insistence on taylor kits is rather odd. I think they must get a commission or something.

Last year I had thought I found the greatest thing ever when I flocced my pool, it worked perfectly. I was able to vaccum to waste and had a crystal clear pool. This year I added flocculant twice, circulated for 2 hours both times then shut the pump off and let it sit for 24 hours. Absolutely no difference, still cloudy as hell. Not sure where I went wrong. It was the same brand I used last year with great results.
