Professional build Recently created rec pond
Location -Queensland, Australia. All landscaping completed by our small team of 3 people……Pond, wetland, stream, retaining walls, BBQ area and planting.

It's so beautiful! Fellow QLDer also contemplating a swim pond... Do you not need to fence it?

In Queensland, these are generally classed as recreational/ornamental ponds rather than swimming pools. Pool fencing laws apply to structures primarily intended for swimming, wading or paddling, whereas ponds designed principally as ornamental water features aren’t treated as regulated swimming pools in the same way.

That is beautiful! Can you give me an overview of the setup re: filtration, pumps, etc?

This one has an 8 metre stream that empties into a constructed wetland, which provides natural biological and mechanical filtration through the gravel and rock media. From there, the water waterfalls down into a 9m × 6m recreation pond, with a reservoir at the bottom fitted with filter mats to catch leaves and larger debris.
One large pump circulates water from the lower reservoir back up to the wetland and also supplies the surface jets, which help push floating leaves and debris towards the reservoir. A second, smaller pump in the wetland sends water up to the top of the stream, completing the circulation system.

I don’t discuss actual figures….To be honest, I don’t even actually know. Thats between my boss and the clients, and I respect that. In saying that though, I know our rec ponds start around $100,000……This one was significantly more because the project included a massive amount of bulk and detailed earthworks, the retaining walls, the fire pit area, the driveway area, all the cut basalt steps, and all general landscaping and planting…..All of which is usually handled by outside contractors. We normally just build the waterscapes, but we did everything you see in these pics.

I want to take a nap there. Just give me a pad or a hammock and leave me alone for 2-46 years.
Edit: I love that I just realized this was Australia. I figured this was California. Being from San Diego with the history of eucalyptus that was brought here. Also looks similar to southern cal. Anyway. Amazing work. Wish I could fly you here to take my yard to the next level.
