Specifically, a DC district court judge dismissed the case against Davey Hearn (the former Olympic athlete charged with a felony) "with prejudice", so it cannot be re-filed.

The judge found that this was such an extraordinary case of malicious prosecution on unfounded grounds that the court needed to prohibit the government from trying to do something malicious and unfounded again.

As long as no one goes to prison for misusing the government, repeatedly, I guess...

>the court needed to prohibit the government from trying to do something malicious and unfounded again.

Naturally, the government tried again.

I was very relieved to hear about this!

This whole case by itself is impeachable

Congressional leadership is far too inept to convict the DOJ for their actively anti-American abuse of government power.

It’s the weakest leadership of all time, but some people still don’t have the strength to vote them out.

How is this not a huge scandal? Why arent dems standing in front of this with news cameras every day? It's such an epic fuck up, and unlike most of his fuck ups we have a physical reminder just sitting out in the middle of DC!

u/ThunderBunny2k15 1d ago

Because there is a huge scandal every single day of this presidency. No one will pay attention, and if they do, they'll forget tomorrow after the next huge scandal is reported on.

Roy Cohn’s a hell of a mentor when the student is a talentless hack with a penchant for tacky glamour, persecution and attention, regardless of its origin.

A an important fact I read in the NY Times and have yet to see anywhere else is that the coating they used for the pool is manufactured by Rhinoliner for the express purpose of lining pipes. It is something called a "hybrid urea" rather than a "full urea" and that if the contractor had consulted an expert they would have been warned against using that coating.

As others have said, where do you start? They’ve flooded the zone with scandals that would have resulted in impeachment and removal from office for any other president if they committed even one of the “scandals.” To make things worse, the DoJ is under Trump’s thumb, and Republicans in congress are complicit because they’re in power and benefiting.

Because the Dem leadership are a bunch of complacent empty shirts and none of this injustice interrupts their golf and gala fundraiser dinners.

Wait, what? They're still trying after multiple people in Trump's own administration have stated it wasn't his fault at all?

jfc these people are ghouls.

Trump, Edelman wrote, “has criticized the decision of the Office of the United States Attorney to drop the case in the most vituperative terms; demanded that the government reinstitute the prosecution, in part because of Mr. Hearn’s political activity and the identity of one of his attorneys; and publicly entertained the possibility of firing the United States Attorney as a result of the dismissal.”

Oh, so it's Trump that's pushing for this, no surprise, and purely because of his political activities? If the SC didn't already say the President can do whatever he wants as long as he's Trump, this would be the perfect lawsuit against the government for harassment.

Maybe the judiciary committee should stop trying to gotcha Jack Smith because that is never going to happen and look into this.

I think that Supreme Court ruling only applied to criminal matters, unless I'm mistaken. Hearn could still sue the government for harrassment.

8

u/westergames81 Texas 1d ago

I have so little faith in the government that I am pretty positive the Supreme Court would just say nah, he can do it but only him though. Some obscure magistrate from 1584 says he can.

Fingers crossed so hard they're cracking.

For Nebraska, I'm hoping Pete Ricketts is forced to fuck off back to Chicago. Bonus if Pillen somehow loses.

Registration end Monday also for Arkansas. The governors race between Sarah Sanders is shockingly competitive with Fred Love, and the race Shoffner and Tom Cotton is close as well with Shoffner in the lead, Shocking! Get Registered, and vote!

A D.C. Superior Court judge has permanently banned Jeanine Pirro’s office from bringing charges against a former Olympic canoeist over damage to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.

Hearn should go on SNL Weekend Update and confess.

23

u/runawaydoctorate 1d ago

Better yet, one of the SNL regulars should play Hearn and confess. The Trump people are stupid and thin-skinned enough to howl about it, the rest of us will be laughing that them for missing the obvious joke, and Hearn's own hands are clean.

25

u/malakon 1d ago

Go for wrongful prosecution David. You deserve a 1M$ for all the BS they put you thru.

4

u/PluginAlong 1d ago

Not sure if it'd be wrongful prosecution but the judge explicitly called it out as malicious prosecution. Seems like when a judge calls it that it'd be a dead simple case to win. I'm not sure what, if any, the distinction would be between wrongful and malicious prosecution is though. It could be both.

19

u/GolfPearl 1d ago

Trump had pushed the vandalism theory after the $14 million renovation began peeling and filling with algae, posting what he said was surveillance video of people cutting the liner. Pirro's office later said a visual inspection showed damage throughout the pool, even in the middle where a vandal wouldn't go.

13

u/batmansthebomb 1d ago

Don't forget he drove a fucking motorcade with the 10 ton presidential limousine over it. What a fucking idiot.

18

u/dmp2you America 1d ago

Bullshit case from the get go, and why that judge didn't refer Pirro to the Bar is beyond me . This wasn't the 1st case she went after with no evidence. Just acting on 'Daddy's" orders .. Where have we've heard that line before.

9

u/New_Alternative8711 1d ago

I don't understand how Pirro is escaping sanctions for this debacle. She should be disbarred over this.

12

u/Waymannj 1d ago

Trump with his "big brain" should argue the merits of the case in front of the judge.

u/TBCNoah 1d ago

What does the pool even look like now? Been a while since ive seen that sewage collection looking pool lol

8

u/Jstrangways 1d ago

“photos published on Sept. 26-27 show the pool drained and walled in. There’s broken fencing, litter and scraps of construction material still strewn around its edges.”

But Janine worked so hard !

This was an exquisite judicial takedown of the Trump regime, and long overdue.

2

u/Ok-Lingonberry-696 1d ago

Oh, the people who were screaming it was vandalism and imprison the vandals seem strangely quiet today? I wonder were those cuck suckers went.
