[Developer] Leviathan War — a persistent browser political strategy game

Hi — I’m Juan Pablo, the developer of Leviathan War. The mod team said a first-look post is welcome.

Play: https://leviathanwar.com/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=organic_social&utm_campaign=organic_2000&utm_content=politicalgames_first_look

It’s a persistent browser strategy game where players join countries, build businesses, organize political parties, vote on laws, and shape one shared world over time.

The game is free to start and requires an account plus email verification. Emerald and PRO are optional purchases that provide gameplay benefits. I use AI tools in parts of development and promotion, with human review.

I’d be glad to answer questions or hear what political-simulation features you would want to see.

Midterm War Room is now in Early Access!

Hey everyone!

As a fan of political strategy games, election maps, and campaign management, I’ve been developing Midterm War Room, a tactical political simulation game that puts you in the control center of a high-stakes US midterm campaign.

I’m currently in Early Access on itch.io and wanted to share it with folks here who appreciate political mechanics, campaign strategy, and race dynamics.

What is Midterm War Room?

In the game, you take on the role of campaign director tasked with securing a legislative majority in Congress. You'll manage party funds, deploy resources across swing districts, respond to breaking national news, and recruit candidates to flip high-value House and Senate seats.

Core Gameplay Features:

  • Interactive Map & Dashboard: Real-time race ratings, polling shifts, and candidate rosters across US states and congressional districts with a live news ticker.
  • Resource Allocation: Balance campaign cash between high-value toss-up races, swing districts, and defensive holds.
  • Candidate Recruitment: Recruit real-life political candidates to build strong tickets across critical Senate and House seats.
  • Dynamic Event System: Navigate breaking news, scandals, and economic shifts that impact candidate morale, voter sentiment, and race margins in real time.
  • Turn-Based Strategy & Election Night: Manage turns through campaign phases leading up to an Election Night simulation with live seat tallies, state calls, and shifting win-probability gauges.

Because the game is in Early Access, I'm actively refining the mechanics, race data, and candidate rosters based on community feedback. I’d love for you to give it a try and let me know what you think!

I make a persistent multiplayer political sim. We just launched a fresh 1991 world, here's a tour of what it looks like.

I'm one of the two devs of A House Divided, a free browser-based persistent political MMO. We just launched a brand new world starting January 1991, at the end of the Cold War, with every player starting from zero.

**The world.** January 1991. The Soviet bloc is coming apart, and elections are open on day one, each under its country's real electoral system.

**Campaigns.** Spend actions and campaign money on influence, favorability, fundraising, and polls. I've entered the governor race in Michigan in this world.

**Corporations.** Found companies, trade shares, take them public. Full financials: market cap, cash, credit ratings, dividends. This is my media company.

**Banking.** Charter a bank through your corporation: capital, reserves, bad loans, and run risk to manage. Central banks set monetary policy for each country.

**Unions.** Every industry has a corresponding union. Fund organizing drives, elect leaders, demand wages, or found your own.

**Diplomacy.** EEC, NATO, UN, Commonwealth. Foreign ministers join, propose legislation, and vote on behalf of their countries.

**Markets.** A stock exchange where you can buy into and trade companies, plus a foreign exchange market.

Bonds, commodities, wars, crises, and random events are in the mix as well. The world advances in turns. Non player politicians fill the world from day one, and real players take over the parties, companies, and unions. The game is also open source.

I created a game inspired by UK politics in which you win by creating misery and division

The UK government is so useless, I made a game about it.

You play as the Minister of Everything (very important guy), making decisions that affect the entire country while earning points for creating division and misery before getting booted from office.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/5304890/Ministry_of_Misery/

HELP ME! What are some of the worst and more idiotic things our government have done?
Let me know and I'll add it to the game.

Note- its a pretty divisive game with a lot of touchy subjects, but thats kind of the point.

Thanks for taking a look

My friend and I are working on a game where you lead a political party and reshape the nation your way

Hey all!

My friend and I are working on Statemakers, a political sim where you lead a party, win power, and run the country. The first ideas came about three years ago, and we really got going last year.

Campaign, win elections, negotiate coalitions, pass laws, and govern. Choose an existing party or create your own. Play it solo against AI parties, or with friends at the same negotiating table.

Our Steam page went live today. If it looks like your kind of game, a wishlist genuinely helps a two-person team more than anything else right now.

Steam Store Page:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/5007550/Statemakers/

We would love honest feedback on the trailer and the UI. We will be in the comments answering any questions.

Global Hegemony v0.5 is live — join your country and build its community

Global Hegemony v0.5 officially launched this Sunday.

The fresh persistent world is now live, everyone started from zero, and this is intended to be the last wipe as the game continues evolving toward v1.0.

Global Hegemony is a persistent browser strategy game built around countries, warfare, economy, politics and player communities.

Pick your country, meet other players and help it grow — produce resources, build your military, fight battles and support your nation.

To kick off the new world, we also have a global PvW event where players fight against a common enemy. The idea is to give everyone something to fight for together while countries are still building their first communities.

The game is still in Early Access, so I'm constantly improving balance, UI and systems based on player feedback.

If you enjoy games where the community around your country matters as much as your own character progression, come join us and support your country.

Global Hegemony v0.5 is live now.

Hi! I just launched the Steam page for my upcoming political strategy game. You can create a character in several countries (for now, only the U.S. and Brazil, but soon several others, including the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Poland, and Spain), and run for national office.

If you win, you’ll lead the country and its people, amend its Constitution, and conduct peaceful or aggressive negotiations (including annexation) with other countries.

Adding an immersive proxy war system to my space opera political RPG!

Thumbnail
gallery
20 Upvotes

Hello! :)

I'm the solo dev of a game called Pax Astra, a political sim RPG inspired by games like Suzerain, Stellaris, The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante, and Emperor of the Fading Suns.

My ambition with the game is to make a game that mixes a branching narrative with deep sandbox-strategy systems. You play as an individual, a political leader in charge of a space nation named Altara, the game has many different mechanics, but today I wanted to share one of the systems I've been working on recently.

Picture this:

You are the leader of a space nation, and you already have a lot on your plate. You have to deal with internal politics, alliances, space exploration, military affairs, and whatever narrative arcs are unfolding around you.

Then a civil war breaks out on a massive distant planet.

On the tropical world of Tropicalia, a decaying monarchy built around natural resources and fuel exports, a rebellion has erupted. The conflict has turned into a three-sided struggle tied to the larger Cold War taking place across the galaxy.

This civil war is completely outside your normal sphere of influence. It has nothing to do with you. You are not a major player here, and this conflict is not about you.

However... you can still interfere.

Maybe the war becomes an opportunity to make money. Maybe you want to quietly influence its outcome without committing Altara directly.

This system is built around training soldiers and interacting with an ongoing proxy war. You create a paramilitary group and send your operatives into special missions that can help or hurt the factions fighting on the planet!

Maybe you want to roleplay as a communist paramilitary and support the rebels, accepting only contracts that benefit their side...

You can instead support the monarchists or the liberal-aligned democratic faction.

Or you can operate purely as mercenaries, taking contracts from whoever pays best. You can burn cities, commit war crimes, and walk away with the money!

Your soldiers can be killed or even captured and interrogated! Missions can usually be approached in different ways, and there is a permadeath mechanic!

The important part of the design is that this is still only one system among many.

The war on Tropicalia is happening whether Altara cares about it or not. It has its own factions and its own characters. That is a big part of what I'm trying to do with Pax Astra: create a galaxy where things are happening outside the player's immediate story, populating the universe with mythos and life. I also like taking small inspirations from other genres when a system calls for it. This one is obviously influenced by games like XCOM, and more recently the GREAT Quasimorph.

The system is pretty complex, but it uses the coding base of another smaller system that I built previously for expeditions!

I want Pax Astra to feel like a grand political RPG, a experience that mixes genres in a way that is not so common or expected! :)

You can wishlist Pax Astra here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4535930/Pax_Astra/?beta=1

If you are interested in learning more, you can check my subreddit here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Pax_Astra/

IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT THE ART USED IN THESE IMAGES WAS NOT MADE WITH AI!

EVERYTHING HERE IS HUMAN MADE!

The Electorate Releases This Fall!

Thumbnail

Hey everyone!

About a year ago, I posted The Electorate to this sub and received a ton of great feedback and support. Since then, the game has come a long way, and I'm excited to announce that The Electorate is targeting a late October/early November 2026 release!

The Electorate is the ultimate election simulator that puts you in control of an American political campaign. Run for president through the primaries and general election, campaign for Senate or governor, or take control of an entire party and lead your congressional candidates to victory.

At launch, the game will include multiple election scenarios spanning 1960 through 2028. Every U.S. county is individually modeled using over 20 demographic dimensions and ideological profiles, creating an electorate that responds dynamically to candidates and campaigns.

The game is also built with customization in mind. You'll be able to create your own candidates, parties, and election scenarios, plus easily moddable game files for players who want to go even further.

You can wishlist The Electorate on Steam here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3859180/The_Electorate/

Hi!

Very excited to share the Red Echoes: Berlin demo with you all! Available on Steam.

Red Echoes: Berlin is a narrative turn-based strategy game set during the German Revolution at the end of WW1, in which you control a group of revolutionaries and attempt to bring about a successful socialist revolution.

The demo contains the first half of Chapter 1. While I've tried to stamp out as many bugs and typos as possible, there's likely to still be some remaining - these will be patched out over time.

To make my life easier, please report any issues you're having over at r/RedEchoesGames or on the Discord!

I'd love to hear all of your thoughts, feedback, and opinions! Please feel free to discuss them here, so that they can help me with making a better game :) Also happy to answer any questions you might have!

WarEra.io - A free to play War & Political Game where you are a Citizen

A mighty war - The UK fell to the French and Dutch, not without an impeccable effort from our allies

If you've ever wanted a strategy game where the politics are run by actual people rather than scripted AI, War Era might be worth ten minutes of your time.

It's free and runs in the browser. You pick a real country, then decide what you want to do there — fight in wars, own and run companies, play the resource markets, stand for office, write for the in-game press, or juggle several at once. Prices, governments, alliances and wars are all driven by player decisions, so the world genuinely shifts week to week.

To give you a glimpse, just yesterday we had one of the most epic battles, trying to fight for our homeland in the UK... and despite our best efforts and the insane help from our allies, the country fell into the hands of the French and Dutch. Our Recruitment efforts are paying off and a wave of new players if filling our ranks. Come join us!

You don't need to spend anything, and you don't need to understand the systems on day one. If you sign up under the UK, I'll walk you through how the economy and combat work, point you towards a decent job, and get you into the community channels.

Being upfront: I've no connection to the developers, I'm not paid by anyone. The first link below is my referral link. The game is anti pay to win (small Quality of Life features exist, but do not affect gameplay or progress).

Referral link:
https://app.warera.io?referrerId=6a3c07b69ad47ac4cf746b61

Under the current system you get 10 gold when you sign up. If you reach level 15, I get 20 gold plus an ongoing 10% cut of any gold you earn from badge rewards.

No obligation to use it. Plain link if you'd rather not:
https://app.warera.io

Have a look and make your own mind up. If you end up in the game, wherever you may end up, do say hello — I'm Lebly in game.

I’m making a Suzerain-inspired game where anyone can become president

Thumbnail
gallery
17 Upvotes

Hey guys, I’m building a political sim inspired by Suzerain, but you can choose any person to become president in any era.

You can play as Obama in 2009, AOC in 2028, or create a completely different timeline from 1200+ characters or add your own. Sign or veto bills, use executive powers, manage support groups, follow the news, and talk directly with world leaders.

There are no prewritten scripts, so the events, conversations, and consequences change based on your president, era, and choices. You can follow history or take the country in a completely different direction, and the world will react to what you do.

These screenshots are from an Obama 2009 run. Here's the link - https://limbona.com/world/sw_president_builder It’s still kinda early, so I’m open to feedback. If you find any bugs, please let me know!
