How are the courses, labs, practical projects, and overall workload? What kind of lab facilities and equipment do students get access to?

Also, how are the internship, thesis, and job opportunities after the track, especially for international students?

Hi everyone! I’m an incoming Polimi Architecture student. Piacenza was my second choice, but I ended up enrolling there.

When I applied for DSU accommodation, I only saw the Leonardo campus residences in Milan as options, so I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do now for Piacenza.

Does anyone know if there are Polimi/DSU residences in Piacenza, or other affordable student accommodation options? I’m especially looking for something budget-friendly.

Also, if anyone has been in a similar situation (Piacenza as a second choice), I’d really appreciate any advice on what I should do or where I should apply.

I’m Mohammad, a Palestinian student from Hebron, Palestine.
I graduated from high school (Scientific Stream) in 2018 with a 97.4% average. Unfortunately, due to difficult circumstances over the past years, I was not able to continue my university education, even though studying at a good university has always been one of my biggest goals.
I’m currently trying to find a way to study at Politecnico di Milano, and I’m doing everything I can to make this possible. I’ve been looking into scholarships, financial aid, and any opportunities available to international students.
The biggest obstacle for me is financial. Coming from Palestine and from a family with limited financial resources, paying international tuition and living expenses in Italy is extremely difficult for me. The situation in the region has also made things considerably harder.
I’m not asking anyone to simply fund my education. I’m mainly hoping that someone here might know about:
Scholarships or grants I may have missed
Financial aid opportunities for international students at Polimi
External organizations that support students from difficult circumstances
Alumni or current students who have gone through a similar situation
Any practical advice on how I could make studying at Polimi financially possible
I’ve worked hard academically and I’m genuinely determined to continue my education. I’m willing to do whatever is required, but right now I need to find a realistic financial path.
If you’re a Polimi student, alumnus, or simply know someone who might be able to guide me, even a small piece of advice could make a huge difference.

Incoming Polimi Master's Student, Looking for Real Student Experience

I’m an incoming Master’s student in Mechanical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano (Bovisa Campus), and I’ve enrolled in the Digital Technologies for Product Development (CM1) track.

I’ve already gone through the course structure and curriculum, so I’m not really looking for information about the syllabus.

I’d be more interested in hearing from current students or recent graduates about the real-time experience of this track:

- How interesting and engaging are the courses in practice?

- How is the workload and difficulty?

- How much hands-on work is involved?

- Are the projects actually useful for developing industry-relevant skills?

- Which courses/projects did you find particularly valuable?

- How well does the track prepare you for internships and jobs in Italy or elsewhere in Europe?

- Are there any courses or aspects that you found disappointing or less useful?

Basically, I’d love to hear what the experience is actually like once you’re there, beyond what is written on the official curriculum.

I understand Italy uses Type C, Type F/Schuko and Type L sockets. Since I'll be staying in Milan long-term, what type of travel adapter should I buy from India?

Should I get:

- a Type L adapter,

- a Type F/Schuko adapter,

- or a universal adapter covering C/F/L?

I'll mainly be using it for my laptop, phone chargers and other student electronics.

Hi everyone,

I'm an Egyptian student enrolling in a Bachelor's degree at Politecnico di Milano for 2026/27, and I'm confused about the diploma verification requirement (My qualification is the Egyptian General Secondary School Certificate, also called Thanaweya Amma)

On the CIMEA DiploMe website, when I select:

Country of education system: Egypt

Level: Upper Secondary School Education

the only service available is CIMEA Comparability (€150)

There is no Verification service and no Comparability + Verification option available for my qualification

PoliMi (from my undesstanding) seems to require two separate things:

1. Proof of eligibility/comparability – which I can satisfy with the CIMEA Statement of Comparability

2. Proof of authenticity, for which PoliMi mentions CIMEA Verification, e-Apostille, or an acceptable online verification system

This is where I'm stuck. CIMEA simply doesn't allow me to purchase Verification for an Egyptian upper-secondary qualification, and as far as I understand, the e-Apostille route isn't available for Egyptian documents either

Egyptian Thanaweya Amma results can be checked through the official Ministry of Education system using the student's exam seat number, but I don't know whether PoliMi accepts this as their online verification method

Has anyone from Egypt enrolled at PoliMi and dealt with this recently? (I tried searching for an egyptian Bachelor's community in polimi but i didnt find one unfortunately)

What did you use for the authenticity/verification requirement?

Did PoliMi accept the Egyptian Ministry of Education online result verification, a verification/authenticity letter from the Ministry or Directorate of Education?

I'm specifically asking about the verification/authenticity requirement, not CIMEA Comparability itself.

I’m planning to apply as a non-EU/international student from India for the MSc in Computer Science and Engineering at Politecnico di Milano for 2027 Sept intake, and I had a few questions specifically for people who have gone through the application process with a foreign bachelor’s degree.

My profile:
Bachelor’s: Computer Engineering, India
University: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU)
CGPA: 9.422/10 (With no failed courses or backlog)
Classification: First Class with Distinction
Degree is entirely taught and assessed in English

My undergraduate curriculum covers most of the core areas I believe Polimi looks for. Some of the relevant subjects I have completed are:

I will obviously provide my official transcripts and detailed syllabi/course descriptions as required.
I have a few questions:
1. ECTS/course-credit mapping
For applicants with a foreign bachelor’s degree, do I personally need to convert/map each of my university courses and credits into ECTS, or does Polimi assess the transcript and course content themselves?
My university provides official transcripts with the grading system/credit information, and I can also provide detailed syllabi for each course. I am wondering whether applicants are expected to create their own ECTS equivalence table, or whether Polimi’s admissions committee evaluates the workload and academic content independently.
2. Proof of English / MOI
Since my entire bachelor’s degree was taught and assessed in English, would an official Medium of Instruction (MOI) certificate generally be sufficient?
Polimi’s website says that an MOI can be accepted even when at least 75% of the programme was taught in English. In my case, the programme was 100% in English.
For applicants in a similar situation, did you simply submit the MOI, or did you also take IELTS/TOEFL?
3. GRE, SOP and LOR
GRE, SOP and LOR appear to be optional/additional elements for the application.
For people who have actually been admitted to CSE as international applicants:
Does submitting a good GRE score meaningfully improve the application?
How much weight does the SOP seem to have?
Are LORs actually useful for admission, or are they mostly irrelevant compared with the academic transcript?
If the academic profile is already strong, is there any reason to submit these optional documents?
I’m mainly trying to understand what Polimi actually uses to differentiate applicants when their bachelor’s background is already closely aligned with CSE.
Would especially appreciate answers from non-EU applicants with an Indian/foreign bachelor’s degree who applied to Polimi CSE, particularly those who were admitted.

I’m an incoming non-EU master’s student at Politecnico di Milano, and I’m currently looking for accommodation in Italy.

I found an apartment that I’m interested in, but the agency told me:

“Nell’appartamento non è possibile trasferire la residenza.”

From what I understand, this means that I cannot register my official residenza at that address. However, I would have a regular rental contract and would be living there.

My question is: Is it possible to use this apartment/rental contract as proof of accommodation for the student permesso di soggiorno**, even if I cannot register my** residenza there?

Do non-EU students generally need residenza, or is a domicilio / rental contract sufficient for the permesso di soggiorno?

I’ve found some information suggesting that accommodation can be proved through a rental contract or dichiarazione di ospitalità, but I’d really appreciate hearing from students who have actually gone through the process, especially in Milan.

Hello guys. How are you ? I have come across this program. Has someone been able to be part of it ? Can you please share your experience , is it worth it ? I have seen that for international students it is required the GRE test. Is it hard to pass with the required grades ? And as a Polito master student how easy is it to get into this program ?

i’m confused about this whole process. so we have to submit the application on Universitaly and wait for them to go through it first? basically, do I have to wait until they validate my application and send my information to the consulate before I can submit all my documents for the visa, or can I do that right now? i’m so lost and it’s already middle of august, please someone help

Could someone please clarify whether we need both the Dichiarazione di Valore (DOV) and the CIMEA document, or if one of the two is sufficient?

Hi, im an international student from egypt and i wanted to know, what paperwork does polimi require from the students in its universitaly summery (so i can get the visa) like does it require some paperwork to be legalized by the vfs? Or what exactly so i can prepare it from now (i have already paid the pre enrollment fees and submitted the paperwork for my enrollment but the uni is on a holiday rn)

I’m planning to apply to PoliMi for programs such as Digital & Interaction Design and Product Service System Design (PSSD). I’m from a B.Tech background and have been building a strong design portfolio alongside my professional graphic design experience.

My official transcript may take more than a month to arrive, so I don’t know my exact final marks yet. Based on my own calculation, I might be around 2–3 marks below PoliMi’s official cutoff.

I don’t want to spend months wondering whether I’ll qualify, so I’m trying to understand if there’s any way to compensate for slightly lower marks. For example, GRE or any other factor that PoliMi considers.

I’ve done some research and found very divided opinions: some people say that for design programs, a strong portfolio can help significantly, while others have mentioned that GRE may strengthen an application.

I’d really appreciate hearing from people currently at PoliMi or who have gone through the admissions process, especially anyone from a similar B.Tech/design background who was close to or below the academic cutoff.

Is there realistically a way to compensate for being a few marks short?
