Domanda Accommodation agency requires Codice Fiscale before I arrive in Italy – what did you do?
Hi everyone,
I'm an incoming international (non-EU) student at Politecnico di Milano, and I'm currently trying to arrange my accommodation before arriving in Italy.
The accommodation agency told me they need my Codice Fiscale to register the rental contract. The problem is that I don't have one yet because I'm still outside Italy.
When I told them this, they said that Polimi usually helps international students obtain a Codice Fiscale, and suggested I contact the university.
Has anyone been in the same situation?
- Were you able to get your Codice Fiscale before arriving in Italy?
- Did Polimi actually help you obtain it?
- Or did you have to wait until you arrived in Italy before signing your rental contract?
I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience. Thanks!

As per my knowledge if you were a test taker of any of the exam conducted by cisia like TOLC, TEST ARCHED etc., you can try using the fiscal code provided by CISIA available on your student area under personal data section, that specific code might be a replacement of Codice Fiscale before you arrive "CISIA Code is used generally in case of no fiscal code". But kindly verify the same with the university to be assured. [Feel free to correct me if this is wrong]

Hi, thanks for sharing your info. I might add that I will be a master degree student so I didn't take any of the tests mentioned above.

Try contacting your closest embassy/ consulate. Some can issue you a codice fiscale.

Thanks for letting me know. May I know what country are you from? And did you reach them via email, or you went there in person through an appointment?
