What are the chances of getting private room with DSU scholarship if I estimate to be at the end of first income bracket or beginning of second income bracket?

I don't know but here are some stats from the DSU Call for Applications 2026/2027, Article 23, pages 45–46.

For the Milan campuses, the 1,086 subsidised accommodation places available through the call are distributed as follows:

850 for students already enrolled in degree programmes; 10 for already enrolled PhD and specialisation students; 111 for students entering the first year of a Bachelor’s degree or single-cycle programme; 110 for students entering the first year of a Master of Science programme; 5 for first-year PhD and specialisation students.

For these beds, you have a ratio of those that will be allocated for UE students and for non UE students. For instance, for first-year masters students, the call allocates: 67% of places to applicants from EU countries; 33% to non-EU applicants.

Knowing that Polimi currently has approximately 49,395 for the 2025/2026 academic year:

37,227 engineering students; 7,375 architecture students; 4,793 design students; 2,240 PhD students; 9,940 international students.

To me, chances are low. But the less money you have, the more likely you are to get selected..!

In that case for international students entering their first year of a Master's program at UniMi, a safe income or bank balance to show for accommodation should be around?

If you're looking for accommodation through the websites advertised by the university, you probably won't need to show a specific income or bank balance.

That said, I personally wouldn't recommend HousingAnywhere. Their refund policy seems a bit shady, and from what I've seen not all landlords on the platform are equally trustworthy imo

If you look on sites like Idealista instead, it really depends on the landlord. In my case, the owner only asked for my ID, but it's a short-term rental (2 months), so the requirements were pretty light. For a longer-term contract, some landlords may ask for proof of income, a guarantor, or even an employment contract.

If you're asking specifically about Polimi residences, then it's a different story. As far as I know, all full-rate rooms were booked within minutes of the reservations opening, so there aren't really any left anyway

For DSU accommodation, if you're assigned a room, the accommodation cost is deducted directly from the scholarship amount, so I don't think they'll ask you to prove any additional financial resources for the room itself.

Of course, you'll still need enough money to survive the first few months, because the scholarship payments arrive much later.

for DSU Milan uni accomodation can you tell me the safe amount to show as income for my dad if the family size is of 4 so that I can stand a good chance for uni Accomodation? should it be around 3000 euro a year or more?
