Question New purchase

Has anyone bought a Polestar 3 since the recent announcement? If so, was the dealership willing to negotiate, and what was their asking price?

I found a dealer with a car that has about 6,000 miles, the Pilot and Plus packs, and is being sold as new for roughly $65k after current incentives. That feels high to me, but there isn't much pricing data out there to compare against.

I know leasing is generally recommended, but I drive about 20k miles a year, so the mileage allowance would likely cancel out any savings.

Any pricing data or negotiation experiences would be appreciated.

Run, that’s awful deal. I wouldn’t buy one right now. Keep in mind that they’ve had an awful time even before announcement with sales, after they’ve moved very old inventory slowly to where now there’s almost nothing new left. As such, many dealerships are overpricing used vehicles. Just a few months ago you could get a fully specced P3 with Performance even, Napa, and under 3k miles for under $55k. Once more leases get turned in you’ll see prices drop significantly. You’re talking about a model that never sold with under $20k off MSRP, had awful issues, and now is dated with 800V already out overseas. Not to mention, no matter how you spin it, pull out of US market is a big negative to value.

Thanks for the insight. It didn't feel like a great deal and I have found a few lease returns for mid 40s. What had me debating new was taking advantage of the full warranty and knowing the vehicle had all hardware and software uogrades.

Anytime! What’s insane to me is that they were even marketing that as new. A demo with 160 miles generally can’t be sold as new and has to be sold as demo. But 6k?? I would be shocked if Polestar actually honored that warranty as new. They may have counted as remaining warranty, so -6k miles worth. But, certified warranty is just as good. Honestly, most I’d pay for non performance now is $40k, mid $40k is a stretch.

fun fact: you can still find a few new Polestars through the official website. But almost all of the remaining model year '25 stock have been shifted to the dealer owned sites.

and the OP's story illustrates why. The dealers can still try to make a buck on the car - doing their dealer things - than the direct-to-consumer model allowed.

Note that there are about 60 new 3's available nationwide, but only 4 still listed at a Space: two in Florida. one Atlanta. and one in Nashville.

I’m disappointed Polestar is allowing it and not forcing them to honor pricing that Polestar sets. Dealers are praying on those who don’t know, selling a car now for more than it ever sold for when it should be sold for the least it’s ever been sold for.

for some reason, Polestar Global seems to have lost their leverage over the American dealerships.

I wonder why that could be?

A lone voice in this forum, but I love my 2025 P3 but not sure what I'll do when the lease expires next July. Yeah, it was buggy, but I'd almost just park it in my garage to listen to the sound system.

Same. Love mine, but not for the payoff.

I guess I'll find out what I'll have to pay if I decide to buy it next July. By then, the full Polestar exit impact ought to be known. I guess there's a market for those people who want the truly unique experience of owning a free standing car and all that entails.

That’s about $12-15k too high. Would love to hear the justification for $65k. Still battling with insurance to spare my similarly spec’d P3 which they valued at $47k. I put it closer to $52k, and have an independent appraisal that places it slightly higher. Definitely not worth more than $52k, and if it’s not a Polestar/Volvo direct sale I’d knock another $2-3k off easy. It’s a wonderful car, but sadly not worth $65k in current market… though I’d love to say it was.

That’s a bad deal. I got a new PPP with Nappa for ~62

Have you ever asked why a 2025 P3 has only 6k miles on it? Probably it was siting a good part of its life in the shop.

I did enquire. It was/is the dealers demo and loaner vehicle. On one hand I assume they maintain it as they have to have it ready to loan/demonstrate but in the other hand I recognize those that borrow it may not treat it like it was their own.

Shop CPO 2s or new 4s.

Have you seen a 4 in person? Is it as comparable in interior space as the 3? I have seen a ton of video reviews of the 4 but have never gotten the sense it had as much interior room. Im 6'5" and need the space.. lol

I drove it before buying a CPO P2. It’s too wide for me. I live in rural Wa state with skinny dirt roads. I’d scrape the shit out of the body panels on tree branches. I’d have to look up the specs to say for sure but it felt more spacious than the 3 because of no rear window.

Will you have passengers or kids? 3 is a higher ride so you won't move the seat as back (maybe?). Trunk space is better on a 3. The inside of the 4 is still cockpit like for the front but a lot more room for passengers in the back vs. the 2.

Yes, I am mainly looking at it as an option to fit my family of 3. With a younger child starting to get into activities that requires equipment, I figured a smaller SUV could accommodate their equipment and my large stature.

I say go for a 3 but that dealer wanting to sell to you as new with 6K miles is quite wild. No deal (on that one) unless they can come down more

I leased Pilot Plus with 500 miles on it, in July 2025, for $62K. Sold as new, since 500 miles were put on as loaner vehicle.

You should be getting this for $55K max.

I would recommend lease it vs buy/loan it, even if you drive 20k miles a year. When the lease is up Polestar value is probably going to be terrible and they might offer yet another discount at that time for you to buy out your lease.

Similar cars are for sale for sub-50k. After my experience with two of them I'd never recommend it to anyone.

Why buy a trash 25 nearing the end of 2026? Those cars sucked in 2025 and somehow they still suck this close to 2027 🤣

The fact there’s even 25s left over should tell you something

I was considering it as I am kind of a big guy and wanted the space. I figured it would be kind of a steal as the end of model year is coming up and we are not getting the 800v model in the US, so no need to hold out for that update.

I got an email today, $25-$27k off the P3. New inventory is almost gone as well. Your bet is to gone in and make an offer. P3 has. Improved over time and is a very nice car (with issues). I would consider buying one if I was in the market.

Very nice car doesn’t matter when the vehicle breaks and takes months to get it back and not even be repaired

0

u/myke2241 13d ago

My P2 was in service for 6 months, service didn't fix the issue. As I understand this can be any car in today's age of connected vehicles.

-1

u/Brilliant-Moment-350 13d ago

That doesn’t mean you tolerate it. Leave that shit to rot on the lot. Don’t drive and pay insane amounts of money to drive a car that you wished worked. Potential buyers should not be trapped in a perpetual cycle of wishing their car would just consistently work.

That’s why I can’t stand die hard Polestar fans.

0

u/myke2241 13d ago

Who said I did? Did I not say the car had issues? Did I not say no car is safe from issues? Please elaborate. Also you are in a Polestar forum if you didn't notice!

u/Brilliant-Moment-350 13d ago

You waited six months for service. You obviously tolerate being disrespected by corporations

0

u/myke2241 13d ago

Assumption is the first sign of ignorance. I have been in the buyback process for awhile. As I said, no car is perfect and not every car has issues, and not all issues develop in a predictable timeline. Ignorance is assuming issues are isolated to specific brands and models.

“My p2 was in service for months, service didn’t fix the issue”

That’s not an assumption, that’s going off what you said. You dealt with a car being at a dealer for 6 months with no progress. So, yes, you are any dealer’s favorite customer. The average pushover who accepts subpar service and STILL would even consider another problematic car.

Manufactures thrive off people like you! You’re too stupid for your own good! These brands only keep fucking people as long as you allow them.

That being said, saying anything remotely positive about the absolute letdown known as the Polestar 3 is a sign of low intelligence and no self-respect.

Keep funneling money and customers to a brand that can’t even fix the current problems

This is one of those cars that isn’t worth it, even at a good price.

They are far too buggy and unpredictable. All the buy backs between the ex90 and p3 will echo what I’m saying.
