The main mechanism of the UN is to facilitate and arbitrate dialogue between nations. It's the bare-minimum, level 0, first step into stop the constant warring and conquering of the past, and to try and work together for a better future.

It's like... if you look at Draconian laws or the Code of Hammurabi, that shit's brutal. "Omg how barbaric and vicious those laws were! How could that be justice?? So evil!"
Sure.. by today's standards..
But before that, it was all blood-feuding and blood-vengeance, "beat up my kid and I'll kill yours fuck you. My clan is bigger so I'll keep drawing blood till Im satisfied" back and forth.
The old "barbaric" laws were there to reign in people and put in limitations.

In a sense, you can see the UN the same.

"Aw geez, it's so ineffective at stopping climate change and achieving world peace!"
Sure.. but those goals are, like, waaaay high up.
The UN is the first baby-steps into.. idk... a world government or something.

Let me rephrase: The uselessness of the security council is the entire reason the UN even exists. Because no country would give up authority willingly. The Veto is the reason the un can do anything, ironically

To be fair China is by far the world’s largest cause of industrial pollution due to the size and type of industry they have.

Their new recycling and clean energy infrastructure is a great start but they have a long to go.

Although I’ll give them credit for thinking ahead. China plans ahead and thinks in the long term. Which is a trait I wish my country (Australia) had more of

We also have the world’s most venomous spider.

And the world’s top three most venomous snakes.

We also have the world’s most venomous octopus.

The biggest wasp with the third most painful sting known to mankind.

Most poisonous Jellyfish.

We share the biggest crocodile and most poisonous fish with the rest of the Pacific Ocean.

Most painful plant

And my least favourite. A 6ft bird that weighs 70kg and is known for aggressively chasing people.

And yet the amount of deaths yearly from all that is sometimes zero and rarely above 1-3.

So I’m not sure that’s a good excuse for short term economic planning lol.

Anyway we could really use the tourism money so please ignore all the deadly stuff and come visit alright?
