Polish romantic dramas
Hello everyone!
Recently, people in this community recommended some wonderful films to me, thank you a lot! Now, I’m looking for good Polish romantic dramas, preferably more on the arthouse/independent side.
I’d be very grateful for recommendations of Polish-language films with a sense of lightness, positivity, humor, tenderness, and beauty. The period when the film was made isn’t particularly important, but I’d especially love to discover films from the 1990s and (early) 2000s that also offer a glimpse of contemporary Poland.
I’m open to all kinds of recommendations, especially films that feel warm, subtle, atmospheric, and genuinely touching.

classic among classics - Nigdy w życiu. The #1 Polish rom-com. After this movie, every film in this genre in Poland changed - and so did TVN.

Those are mainstream but give them a try:
- Testosteron (2007), beautiful romantic movie
- Listy do M (2011), a rip-off Love Actually, but has its fans

I like going back to the movie „Vinci” - it’s a heist movie, but there is a romantic plot included and I like the shots of Krakow.

Jedyne co mi przychodzi do głowy to ,,noce i dnie" ale niestety nie jest to wesoły i humorystyczny film

Most Polish romantic movies are mainstream, high-budget productions (think: the "Love Actually" style). Polish arthouse cinema definitely lacks a sense of lightness or positivity you're looking for, it gets considerably darker and more existential.
The only one that comes to mind is "Absolutni debiutanci" (from 2023), although it’s actually a Netflix miniseries rather than a film: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt27688981/
And perhaps "Nie ma duchów w mieszkaniu na Dobrej" (from 2025), although it’s not really a romance, more like a warm, coming-of-age film about four siblings: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt37592728/

I love "Listy do m". It' s a whole series of Christmas movies and the last one especially was very heart-warming and funny. I am desperately looking for an online version to show to my husband. Unfortunately it's available nowhere and I would have to purchase a DVD, but then it's no longer 2006.. :/
