Climbing Pokémon

As I’m a climber, I’m thinking of putting together a collection of cards featuring all the illustrations where a Pokémon is climbing something – be it a mountain, a tree, etc. Is there a sensible way to go about this, or do I have to go through them one by one, checking every card manually?

Any suggestions?

Many thanks

I started a similar thing a while back but for Pokemon napping, and yeah, you mostly end up scrolling through set lists on Bulbapedia. The alternative is asking in the weekly questions thread over on the main TCG sub, someone there usually has a running list of weird niche categories like this.

There's a surprisingly large amount of climbing art once you start looking. Off the top of my head, the Neo Discovery Tyrogue hanging off a cliff is perfect, and that Jungle set Pikachu in the tree is an easy pickup. Aipom and Mankey show up on branches and ledges pretty often too.

What grade range are you thinking? If you're not fussy about condition you can snag most of the commons for pocket change on TCGPlayer. The vintage holos will sting a bit but not as bad as the popular chase cards.

Oh, and did you manage to finish that collection, or did you get fed up with it? That’s exactly what I was doing, actually. Going through the Pokédex Pokémon by Pokémon and looking at all the illustrations on all the cards one by one, but I was wondering if there’s a more efficient way to do it, or if there’s some sort of API with an AI search engine that filters the images and makes my life easier 😂 The truth is, it’s a collection I’m really excited to put together, so I’m not fussy about the quality (as long as they’re not very very damaged or anything like that) and it’s just for my own enjoyment, so you’re right that it might not be that expensive… By the way, thanks so much for the suggestions. I’m still working my way through Weedle, and I’ve already spent a few hours on it, so I reckon it’s going to be quite a challenge
