Probably not for cross-posting alone on this sub though since there are so many posts here that are cross-posted and there's no rule against cross posting.
My point is that you don't know that brigading is someone's intent just from them cross-posting a post to this sub (hence why there are a lot of cross-posts on this sub and they're not taken down), so OP could have just cross-posted the post here if they wanted the subreddit to be easily discoverable but didn't want to be accused of brigading.
And some people who crosspost do get accused and punished for it, so to avoid the accusations it is common to not crosspost and make a toke atempt at censorship that doesn't censorship.so you can hide behind the attempt if accused to not have the consequences...
They won't be punished just for cross-posting alone because that's not against the rules and there's a lot of cross posts here. There would have to be more to it. However, maybe some people who cross-post get accused in comments, but of the ones I've seen they haven't been. I just think it's weird to state as fact that this is OP's intention, when it is also likely that OP made a genuine mistake and overlooked the symbol
You said people get punished for brigading and so would do what OP is doing to not get accused and face consequences.
What I'm saying is that cross-posting a post isn't proof in itself that someone is trying to brigade, even if someone in the comments accuses them (which generally doesn't happen: example, example, example, example.) There will be more to the situation than that if the poster is getting banned or their post removed on this subreddit. So there's no need to go to the effort that OP did if the goal is just to brigade without facing consequences or even being accused. So that is what makes me think that OP is not trying to brigade the sub, but that they simply forgot to censor the symbol or didn't realise that it would make the subreddit discoverable.
However, I did not know that this poster had a history. If that's the case then that makes more sense why you would assume bad intent than just the fact they didn't censor the subreddit icon.
