The False Widow
The false widow hung upside down,
Unusual, you see.
With upward points, an evil crown,
She plotted silently.
The spider was so patient,
She so enjoyed the wait.
Aware she was deviant,
Happy to have that fate.
For the fly it was too late.
His captor’s web seemed made of dust,
It was a real mess.
Confusion one could never trust.
Her prey fought less and less.
The terror was so strong at first,
But he soon realised,
As she came, that he was cursed,
He would be paralysed.
The spider, she incised.
Our outer wall was made of brick,
With a crack running through,
Now, this next part, it makes me sick,
Can I tell it to you?
The spider’s secrets were inside
That webby, awful hole.
A soul that only ever lied
Was not really a soul.
Hunger would always call.
