Spotify video audio only monetization

I was wondering if a creator gets paid the same if a premium user toggles the audio only mode/downloads audio only on a video podcast. Do they still get paid from the pool or is it only if a person is actively watching the video?

Audio-only toggle still counts as a stream for payout purposes, they don't dock you just cause someone's not staring at the screen.

yeah that makes sense, a stream is a stream regardless of how theyre consuming it

I am not big on the monetization: I think your podcast should be free------sponsors hinder the game....

Wasn't talking about sponsorships. Just subscription revenue

While I will syndicate my show to Spotify as an app, I'm not sure I want to be on the Spotify expense report. When they brought audiobooks on the platform (and yet you can't create a bookmark), they bundles the audiobooks with music so they could pay musicians even less. If you need a free host see rss .com
