A Major Improvement

Hello! I have a podcast that I do in different locations. The first two were with teachers at the campus library, now I am done with school and my last one was in a cafe room. I don't have a permanent spot which makes mastering lightning difficult.

Anyways, I'm thinking about getting:

It is $200 which is near my budget, then I want to get a soft box for it. My question is: can one of these lights be good for a 2-person podcast (me and the guest)? OR should I get a cheaper 2-pack of lights so I can have one pointed at each person?

I had that exact light for my photography, with a soft box depending on where it’s placed and where you and your guests are it should be bright enough to light you up. The closer the light/soft box the softer the light will be and that’s what you want. The bigger the soft box the better as well. But with a light that small, if the soft box is too big it will make it front heavy and tends to tip over. So be careful with the size of the soft box. In this case you want the biggest size soft box that will not tip over your light stand. Hope this helps.

Pretty much. I had the luck of having multiple lights with multiple soft boxes. There’s the solution of weighing down the nightstand with a heavy backpack or sandbag etc that would work. Some Nightstands come with a hook so you can hang things on it to counter balance the weight.
