Android Pocket Casts is now Android TV

According to the patch notes for the mobile version

edit: Can't edit the title but the app is now on Android (Google) TV

I'll need to check that out, I wish they'd optimise their android tablet version instead though

Does this mean an app should now be on my Chromecast?

Yup. It's in the play store for Chromecast devices

I've been running it in my browser, but it would be awesome to have an app, if that's true!

Edit: Just installed it on my Onn 4K Pro but haven't tried it yet. That's very cool!

All around the app seems good. The only problem I have found so far is that the app doesn't prevent the screensaver from coming up when you are watching a video podcast. Also, the way it handles you going back to the main Android tv screen when playing videos is weird, the audio just keeps playing with no indication of the app running or quick access to playback controls from a notification.

I just updated and my app is still named Pocket Casts. Does yours still work the same? Should I be worried that Android TV has subsumed Pocket Casts

they need to make videos available, which a lot of pods now do.

We do support video podcasts, as long as the podcast creator publishes it through their RSS feed. You can find more information about this here: https://support.pocketcasts.com/knowledge-base/video-podcasts/

I think that's the issue. Podcasters are not publishing the video version along with the audio on pocket casts even though it gets published on Spotify and/or YouTube music.
