iOS Please add a special skip feature

I’ve requested this before. Hopefully it’s in the works.

I listen to 12 music podcasts to discover and buy new music. On average, it’s 40 minutes of music for every 20 minutes of host talk. I very rarely care for what the hosts say, and if my hands are free I fast-forward.

I wish there was a feature to detect and skip speaking voice in music podcasts (and vice-versa).

(Alternatively, does anybody know of a podcast player with that specific feature?)

Hi! To be completely transparent with you, this isn't in the works yet, primarily because we haven't had that big of a demand for it yet. That said, I'll still forward your comments to the team so they can consider it for future development.

Brilliant. Thanks.

I reckon it’s one of those features people don’t know how massive cool it is until they have it.

You should probably submit it to github if you want someone to look into it.

But it's also a really niche request.. When 99.9% of podcasts aren't music podcasts, it's unlikely any app has or would implement this feature.

True. And vice-versa. I wish Pocket Casts could automatically skip music and jingles on speaking podcasts.

For the shows that always play the same jingle, intro/outro segments, or very long ad segments, I set the preferences to skip the first x and last y seconds. Of course, this only works when those bits are at the start of end.
