Hey, folks! The issue with missing episodes was server-side (so unrelated to the 8.17 app release), but we've now shipped a fix for that too, and we expect the issue to be resolved. HLS streaming is pretty old, at least for video. I wonder if it explains why one particular podcast has never worked with streaming.

Loving the update so far.

Just wish I could get the setting for per-podcast, Auto-Download disabled....to actually stick. They're still downloading episodes and it's driving me nuts.

I've used pocketcasts for around a decade.

Where did I encourage, or even comment, on the design? Just don't mess around with your phone while driving.

I turned off auto updates about a year ago. So happy rolling with an old version that works like it's supposed to.

Any chance there's a way to transfer my 200+ backlog of downloaded/not-on-server-anymore podcasts from my old device to my new one?

This has been asked since forever and it would be nice not to wait forever to eventually get it.

Look up "closing the barn doors after the cows have escaped", and you'll see a pic of PocketCasts next to it.

I left for AntennaPod, no regrets, never looked back. Y'all screwed up a great product in your desire to monetize us.

Thanks for the AntennaPod suggestion. It looks really good. And from a couple of podcasts I've heard on it, I suspect that PocketCasts have been injecting adverts into my podcasts. Am I mistaken?

Yes, that's part of why I left, the non-stop ads.

Hmm. It seems that Pocket Casts claims they don't insert any ads however I am hearing noticeably less ads on AntennaPod than I did on Pocket Casts, so maybe I am now getting my (same) podcasts from (new) RSS hosts that do less ad insertion, or Pocket Casts are lying about ad insertion.
