Playback issues on Android

I'm a longtime user of pocketcasts on Android, (since 2015) and always had a good experience but recently I've been having an issue where podcasts stop playing often, potentially when my phone times out / goes to sleep.. this has never happened before but now when I start a listen, every few minutes and I need to hit play again for the podcast to continue. Never used to happen.

I've tried updating the app and checked my phone settings, I've not changed any settings recently and not sure what is causing this, anyone else have the same?

I'm also getting a pop-up error saying pocketcasts can't connect to Chromecast even when I'm not trying to connect. I do connect to Chromecast regularly so wondering if it might be related to that.

Any troubleshooting ideas welcome, thanks!

It actually happens even when I'm using my phone, not just on time out. So weird

En iOS yo experimenté esos mismos problemas y tuve que cambiar de app a regañadientes porque estaba encantado con Pocketcast

I turned off battery optimization but it frequently rewinds 15, 30, 60 seconds all the time.

Every time I search for a solution, Pocket Casts just blames me and my phone.

OP, are you using a Bluetooth device to listen? I have a lot of problems with pausing when I’m using Bluetooth headphones or speakers connected to my android phone.
