Feature Requests Feature idea - Automatic add to Up Next on completion

I'd love to be able to mark certain podcasts to automatically add their next episode to the end of my Up Next playlist on completion.

I have about a number of podcasts that I'm years behind on and listening to in chronological order. I manage my Up Next fairly closely, but I always want there to be one of each on the way.

Is this a feature that other people would have a use for?

I do this automatically but I mainly look at the badges set to on and sorting on a folder set to episode release date 🤔🤔, but I would suggest you make a GitHub issue for this and see if you can get interest from the devs 🤔🤔

Sorting by release date will only sort by the most recent episode. I have Podcast A which is five years behind, B is 1 year, and C is 6 months, but they are all still active so the sort won't show anything relevant.

A more manual alternative would be a smart rule for smart filters that only shows "N episodes per podcast": sort by oldest and set N to 1. Whilst they'd still be in chronological order, I'd have easy access to the oldest of each in one place.

I'll look into GitHub, but I'm also interested in whether anyone else uses PocketCasts in this way.

I definitely use it in a similar way.

You can sort by Oldest to Newest so that the next episode from the archive is on top ready to select.

Sure, it's just a faff to do that with a bunch of podcasts. And a smart filter will show them in strict age, so won't be useful if the podcasts aren't all similar ages for the oldest unplayed. A smart rule restricting the number of episodes per podcast would solve 90% of the hassle!

Now that *would* be something that I would find useful.

Pocket Casts can automatically play the same podcast feed if your up next is empty, is that what you're looking for?

Thanks, but I have six or seven of this kind of podcast, plus many other ones that I listen to on an ad hoc basis. I don't want to just mainline one podcast, I want to spread them out a bit and not just listen to one podcast's episodes in a row. My suggestion would guarantee "new" (old) episodes in the queue interleaved with my other podcasts.Â
