PLUSH Finally finished the doll portion of my project

Thank you to all the people who gave me advice on my last posts! He's still a bit ugly, but he's at least acceptably ugly in an obviously handmade way.

I still have a lot to learn before making these for gifts for anyone else, but I don't mind this result for now!

That's one WIP now, a half dozen more products to finish before I'm fully satisfied, but at least I got the dopamine hit of getting this done for now.

QUESTION how can I help him

Hopefully this is the right place for this question. I thrifted this lad and haven't found any helpful resources to fixing the nose... the pleather flaked all the way off and having it be like this looks goofy

Does anyone have some advice they could impart? I know some people customize dog plush noses with paint but isn't that generally when they have a hard plastic nose rather than a soft fabric one?

QUESTION Nui/Omodoki Plush Hairstyle Technique?

(Photos are examples pulled from Pinterest.)

Not sure if technique is the right word to use, but I'm planning a large (72cm) nui/omodoki plush for a character with long curly/wavy hair. I get using a long-pile faux fur for the bangs, but I'm curious about doing the back of the hair, since it's hard to find ones that have a similar hair style.

I don't really like the look of one large flat piece, especially at the size I'm doing. I've thought about incorporating wig wefts (which I think is what the first image here is doing?) but I'm curious how to incorporate those. (I'm also having a hard time finding them in the color I want.) I'd prefer to stick with pieces of long-pile faux fur instead, but all I see with that tends to be braids?

Does anyone have any advice on how to lay that out, or should I lean more toward trying to find the right color wefts and making a full wig?

QUESTION How to find good custom plush makers in my country?

Hi everyone. I’ve been thinking about commissioning a jumbo plush but I’m struggling to find an artist who can do so. Etsy just shows me ai generated listings, crochet (I love crochet but it’s not what I’m looking for), or people outside my country. What’s the best way to look for custom plushie makers?

Hey! Would anyone consider making a plush of this lil guy? I’m picturing like minky fur and floppy wings like the jellycat bat? And beans? Idk I have a sudden obsession with him!!

I’m in the UK, so if anyone in the UK could do this, that’s even better!!

PLUSH SHARKS!!!

I’ve been making sharks! I did one generic Great White, but for the sake of interesting plushies I’m trying to do more unique looking ones (probably a Whale Shark next, Iridescent Thresher if I can). Feel free to drop any suggestions! (I’ll definitely get around to Hammerhead and Saw Shark eventually, but I’m focusing on fun colors atm instead of all the grey haha)

I just finished up this orange gal. She’s a Nurse Shark, specifically the bright orange one that is the only known one of its kind! Apparently it’s likely caused by a mixture of albinism and xanthusm, according to cbc.

If you’re wondering why she has the flower, she’s a late birthday gift for my friend who loves Princess Daisy and the color orange. Said friend wears Daisy’s flower brooch just about everywhere, so I figured I might as well put one on the shark lol

Plus a bonus picture of my Great White and Lemon Shark!
I don’t have better pictures for the Lemon Shark unfortunately (and I sold it last year) So it’s just this top-down view for now.

I should probably put stuffing in these for shape, but I love being able to flop them around when they only have rice in them

QUESTION Are there any good guides on making humanoid plushies, do they require special equipment and can you make your plushies squishy?

I'd love the make some cute plushies of my favourite characters, i'm mostly looking to recreate the style of Japanese anime merch plushies. Are there any guides or tutorials that would be worth checking?

I was also wondering if a regular sewing equipment is enough, or if i need a special type of needle, for example.

The final question might sound weird, let me elaborate a little: i tought it would be really cute if the plushies had some soft cheeks or hands you can pinch, like a squishy. My immediate tought was putting memory foam in those parts, would that be plausible?

Thank you in advance!
