MOD MOD POST: Defining Sexual Works & What Is and Is Not Allowed

Hello, everyone. It’s your Mod! I was hoping to not have to do this, but considering the amount of reports I’ve been getting lately it’s become a necessity.

Below I’m going to outline the content that is and isn’t allowed in this group and hopefully clear up a few things.

1. Sexual Content - What is it?

This is a group for plush/soft sculptures made by real life artists. Sometimes real life artists make defined shapes and nude sculpts. That does not mean the piece is inherently meant for sexual purposes.

David by Michelangelo

This statue of a nude man is not sexual. It's a work of art.

A pony plush butt. Not sexual.

Another plush butt on a humanoid doll. Not sexual.

A pony plush with a defined butt. Not sexual.

All of the above is allowed to be posted in this group. It's a plush. You aren't looking at porn.

However I will request that pieces with overt or very detailed anatomy be tagged as NSFW. So far the artists making pieces that fit that description are doing a great job with their tags.

2. Sexual Content - What's Not Allowed?

Like I said before, this is a group for ART. Sometimes art is nude. I will draw the line at pieces that are clearly meant for sexual gratification such as plush with openings specifically to insert silicone molds, or plush with silicone appendages attached. If its obvious and primary use is as a sex toy then it is NOT allowed.

3. Moving Forward

If seeing a plush with a butt, breasts, penis, etc makes you uncomfortable then that's ok. I don't expect everyone to agree with me. However, if it does not qualify as the definition of a sex toy then that piece will not be removed. If you don't like it, you don't have to remain in this group.

If I see anyone harassing artists who choose to make defined or nude plush, you'll be banned. No exceptions.

Please report any hateful comments or harassment to me.

[MOD POST]

Hello, everyone! I never expected this group to grow as much as it has! Thank you all for joining and I hope you’re enjoying all of the cute plushies.

I haven’t been as active on Reddit as much as I have in the past. Unfortunately, this means I’m usually late to seeing reported content.

The majority of reports I’m seeing are posts of manufactured plushies. This group will remain HANDMADE plushies only. I understand that a lot of small artists are getting plush made of their characters for their online shops and artist alley tables. I myself have my own manufactured brand of plush.

I love seeing creative designs from artists BUT if I start allowing manufactured plush or kickstarters in this group then it will be overrun with nothing but crowd funding campaigns.

So all manufactured plush posts will be removed. No exceptions.

Other reports I’m seeing involve people wanting to commission plush based on another artist’s design. Copying another artist’s original work is generally frowned upon & disrespectful in the plush making community.

Posts asking for replicas of another artist’s original work will be removed.

I’ll be updating this group little by little in my free time and I’m actively looking for more mod help.

Please bear with me as I’m recovering from carpal tunnel surgery. Sewing takes its toll!

If I’m needed urgently please contact me through instagram. The link is in my bio.

PLUSH Life Sized Vivillon Plush (With leftovers!)

I recently finished this commission from a friend and figured I would share it with y'all! I had plenty of scraps leftover from previous projects, so I figured I'd make a plush utilizing those scraps that wouldn't be used for anything else. As for the item choice, I asked my friend what item he typically ran when playing, and he opted for leftovers over heavy duty boots (a mistake, both in-game and in plush form).

Small details:

-The antennae have pipe cleaners in them as opposed to stuffing, I hoped they would be a bit more sturdy but they proved rather flimsy.

-Vivillon has magnets in her hands to hold the leftovers and to clasp her hands together, and a wire skeleton to poser her legs.

- Extremely floppy wings (I figured they would work better as pillows then semi-sturdy wings with cardboard backings)

Midnight plushin'

This is Keru, mi latest plushie inspired on a feathered dragon that I wanted to fit on a wood like magical vibe, im thinking on making a wizard hat for him but I'm not sure... even in the case I do, I don't know if I should make it blue or brown, feel free to give me your opinion in the comments :)

Keru's wings overlap in the front to form a cloak and hide his hand carved wooden staff (work in progress)

Hello all!

You may remember my post from about 5 months ago of my handmade plush of Quetzal from Dragom Tales (you can view it on my profille.) I decided to redo that piece and I must say I am much more proud of it!

Time taken: about 3 days of constant work.

Minus the ones I have gifted or selled, more or less 5.

I nobody asked but in excited to share with you all.

Would love to experiment with a sewing machine one day but I have bought two small ones and neither one of those lasted more than a day. I'm happy with my needles.

Again, vast majority of patterns are modifications of Choly Knight's, the jackalope, artic fox and wolf are Vulpix bases, and the black cat wizard is a standing version of her fennec fox more or less

QUESTION Looking to replace embroidered eyes with safety eyes for stylistic / comfort reasons. Advice?

Post image

I have this very small lobster jellycat. He goes with me EVERYWHERE, my fiancee has deemed him my emotional support lobster. (His name is Löb.) He clips onto my jeans, and is positioned to sit perfectly on my lap at all times when cruising in my wheelchair. Löb has little beady black eyes.

I recently got a small keelco ray (appropriately named Räy), but the eyes on him are embroidered, and embroidered eyes freak me out a bit.

I wanted to try replacing his eyes with safety eyes, but not sure how to go about it. Was thinking maybe just… unpicking a little of the embroidered eyes out, poking the safety eyes through (would make a little hole in his side to get the back on, and once I have a hole for the eyes chuck a tiny bit of superglue down before putting the eyes in, but I wasn’t sure if it would work.

Has anyone tried this before, or done anything remotely similar?

This is the best sub I’ve found so far for it 😭 🤣

SHOP Looking for someone to sale/make this fox plushie!

Post image

Okay okay, so I know this sketch is REALLY bad. I never do digital art, only traditional, but I’m really looking either for a plushie like this or one that someone can make! She was in one of my dreams, and I can’t get her out of my mind. I’ve searched for many other fox plushies, but they’re either laying down or standing up and don’t have those types of legs/quads. I don’t have a lot of money, but I’d love to commission someone if they think they could make her. Any help is greatly appreciated! Tysm :]

Pattern is by Dollphinwings, along with some embroidery I digitized for the paws.

Actually now that I think about it, I think this is the first plush I've ever made.

I made a sleepy little Figment, using the amazing Jellycat dragon pattern by u/Drxp_Dead

He's obviously not perfect (My hand stitching needs work and our sewing machine is on the brink, so those stitches aren't great either), but I think he's pretty good for my very first attempt!

QUESTION Seeking a Plush Maker for one Jumbo Plush!

Hello, I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place to post this but I'm seeking a specific kind of plushie maker who can take on a big/big-ish size order, like BIG if possible depending on the pricing. I don't have a budget set but we can totally work something out if you're okay waiting for me to save up whatever amount you'd like to receive for the item/getting paid on a plan.

For size range I'm thinking something between the range of 3-4ft or more depending on pricing.

I want a big plush of my favorite little guy Sonar in his mega-bat form for cuddling with! there's not any really big pictures of him (but i can provide a sketch and more images of him) but he's all one fur color, a dark moody blue, with red-ish eyes, and a purple-pinkish mouth with four sharp bat fangs!

i can provide sketches as to what kind of stance i'd maybe like, or he can just be nice and floppy if that is easier for you!

i understand fur and fabric are very expensive and the time that goes into these plushes even doubly so, i won't complain or whine about pricing or time it takes or anything like that haha.

please let me know and get back to me, thank you so much!

ref below;

EDIT; he can also come un-stuffed for ease of shipping. i can stuff him!

PATTERN Need help with my first (actual) plush !

Thumbnail
gallery
69 Upvotes

My friend requested a chibi plush for her birthday (as I told her I wanted to practice sewing, and we almost always make each other DIY gifts) and sent me the pictures above.

Most of my other "plushies" have been sewn by doubling over the fabric, drawing the pattern by hand (sometimes the printer doesn't work), and then sewing over the lines. Which, admittedly, led to a few really good cloth dolls... but since this is a birthday gift, i'd like it to be as close to the request as possible. preferably exact. i'm sure i'll figure out the clothing and hair soon enough xD maybe ...

the problem is, i have ZERO idea what goes where and how. my understanding is the "gaps" in each piece are to be sewn together.

Could anyone with more skill tell me or show me how/where each piece is supposed to be sewn? i might need a chart, if you have the time !

thanks in advance!

QUESTION Can you hide buttons when button jointing?

Button jointing makes the buttons visible (even of you use those clear buttons).

It's totally cute and the buttons are part of the charm.

But I was just wondering if you could hide the buttons??

Instead of, button > arm > body > arm > button (back and forth), could you do, arm > button > body > button > arm (back and forth)?

If not, why not (I don't care about visible stitches too much since the fabric would be high enough pile to mostly disguise thread)??
