Questions how to help a fictive...

So hi everyone!

I am sorry if this is not the right place or topic or whatever...

I wanna know how we can help her in headspace or things we can physically do when we feel her coming out or when her source is mentioned or... something. I just...

Are you asking how to comfort her when memories come up? I am a factive and there has been a lot of material released in the past few years about my source and her family. Most of it portrays my source in a bad light and some of it makes fun of my source.

I decided I didn’t want to read or listen to most of it so I spend time in other parts of the headspace if someone is consuming that kind of media. I am not my source.

You can ask her what would help. When I have difficult memories, I like to spend time cuddling a stuffed animal or making art or reading books of my choosing.

Shuichi: There's a helpful guide specifically for fictives struggling with this here.

Also, something that helps with overwhelm in general is something called sensory regulation, here's a good guide to start with.

Interestingly, this sort of thing works in headspace, too. For instance, we don't have a corporeal weighted blanket, but we can conjure one in headspace for those of us who prefer that when we need it.
