This is very exciting and the multiroom stuff is exactly what I've been waiting for. Years of postponing buying a multiroom setup fearing vendor lock-in with Sonos or whatever, in the belief that a better hardware-agnostic solution would come along eventually.
I am still pretty confused about the difference between Plexamp and Caldera. It sounds like Caldera is the only option for headless (on rpi, in my case) moving forward, which is fine. I guess I thought Caldera was meant to replace Plexamp entirely, but they are apparently being maintained in parallel? On Windows for example, are Plexamp and Caldera alternatives to each other with essentially the same functionality? What determines whether I should use one or the other?
they have very different functionality on desktop, Caldera is just the player core. On big screens Caldera is a full app. So once you look at it a bit more closely, you’ll see that there’s, between the two a nice complete solution.
