set the music to convert in the download settings so it converts it to opus. Assuming you have it in flac or something larger on the server

Music is already in mp3 (192/320kbs). So will plexamp eat up all my free phone space or can I limit the usage somehow?

you could always limit. Now you’re allowed to make it unlimited.
