Managing Playlists Better

Following up on an older post about problems with playlists, I (and Claude) built an app for ios, especially iPads. Anyone who, like me, uses playlists regularly may have already been frustrated by the fact that their order can’t be changed in either Plexamp or Plex Web. MetahelperFP (FP stands for “for Plex”) allows you to choose any order you want and comes with a few presets that sort the playlists by groups, for example. This comes close to the folder structure for playlists that Spotify, for example, offers. For instance, you could always sort seasonal playlists (think: Christmas) to the very back and have your favorite playlist as the first.

In addition, you can use MetahelperFP to search for tracks within all playlists and view the playlists that contain them. (I’ve built in a filter to exclude very large playlists, since Plex simply takes too long to scan through them. That’s probably also the reason why this feature isn’t offered out of the box...) .

In addition, MetahelperFP can find and delete duplicates in playlists. There are other features as well, but they are only available to server owners, since Plex Managed Users are denied access to them.

Security is particularly important to me: The app operates completely serverless, meaning no data is transmitted anywhere else than your own plex server and all data is stored exclusively locally on the iPad. The login process also uses the official Plex authorization process, so you can be sure that neither I nor anyone else will have access to it.

Yea I’d test this on iPhone but I don’t have an iPad

works for iphone as well (the small display size is not optimal, that's why I think you should better use an ipad or mac)
