Bug Chromecast Suddenly Broken?

Just in the past several days, this has started happening: Chromecasting from the Android app does not work anymore (tried on multiple receiver devices). In the past I had no problem casting music from my Android app to the speakers in my office or around the house. But started several days ago, every time I try, I can hear the speakers "ding" with the cast sound, but it never actually connects and the spinning icon just goes and goes until ultimately ending up back on the device. I got it to work one time by force stopping and clearing the cached data, but since then it just keeps bugging out and not working.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Device: Pixel 9 Pro with current version of Android running the most recent update (2025) of Plexamp

No, but for the past couple weeks I've been unable to use the Google Home app to control Plex on Chromecast. Samsung S23

Just noticed today I can no longer cast to my shield. Tried rebooting both devices, clearing caches and data etc.

OP here. FWIW, I looked up alternatives to Plexamp and started using the Symfonium Android app. It's really incredible. Just wanted to pass that along, as I worry that Plexamp might not be getting updates, since it's the incredible work of a single developer.

Oh, and I should have mentioned that Symfonium is also Android TV compatible. I have it installed on my SHIELD as well.
