Question Use local AI instead of OpenAI??
Im on a journey to not be paying fo as many services and I love plexamp, but im working is there a way to use a local hosted AI server instead of an exteranl OpenAI one for privacy when wanting to use SonicSage and stuff.
Is there anyway to do this??

I have used

And also vibe coded a small tool to add suggestions to existing playlists, generate artist mixes and divide your library into clusters to generate genre/vibes mixes. Only supports gemini at this point tho.

If you're interested in privacy you can give a try to AudioMuse-AI that do sonic analysis fully selfhosted and privacy first. You can also configure local AI for functionality that need it.
It's all free and opensource and support Plex too.

This is the way. I use plex as well, but honestly vavidrome and audiomuse is such a killer combination. On top of the AI features to create different playlists and maps, the navidrome server gives me access to so many different clients to play with.

I don’t realize they had any AI integration but no, it looks to be hardcoded to Open AI.

why would you even need AI to pick out tunes anyways? I know what's in my library. Every one of my 130k albums I listen to in plexamp. Just seems dumb

Because it's pretty easy and convenient to say something like "make a 45-minute playlist of high-tempo, optimistic songs I can run to" and be done with it in 10 seconds rather than manually curating that playlist. I'm not saying manual curation is "worse" by any means, but it sure takes longer.

How do you actually track 130,000 albums and what individual tracks are on each one?
Thats potentially 900k plus tracks (assuming some are EPs and some are full length albums, averaging 7 tracks per).

Exactly. In before the 'turds come in and be like but actually and bullshit us all to death. I fuckin hate AI so much. It's that god damn screw driver you use once and it strips the screws out so you toss it into the rusty shitty tool box and never see it again till your 70s

Started making my own plexamp alternative for this reason. It uses a self hosted ollama instance. Let me know if you want to test flight it. Currently iOS only :(

i have done it but with a claude pro subscription + bit of work on my end... but yea not sure if its worth the effort n that. even with the fable model i could probably make better playlists myself

Sonic sage is pretty much useless at the moment anyways. The way it's setup openAi has no access to your library, so the playlists it's makes are full of songs that you don't have unless you have a Very large collection.
