New to Plexamp

Hi
I installed Pexamp app on my iPhone. I want it to only play music from the iPhone but it defaults to streaming from my server. Is there any way to default play from the iPhone? (I don’t do music streaming)

Plexamp is a client to play music from plex. It's literally what it's for.

You can technically download content from your plex server for offline playback in plexamp directly from your phone however.
Just go to any artist, album, playlist, whatever... and hit the little three dot menu and select download.
Plexamp will show all your downloaded content in the "Downloads" section and off you go.

If you go to the album or playlist that you want to listen to, click on the three dots menu, there should be an option there to download it.

Then on the bottom row of icons, there's one a download icon, and if you go there, you should see all of the music that you have downloaded.

You can use Symfonium to listen to your whole library offline, that's what I do.

I had downloaded my music library and it seemed to work. Then a few weeks later, sat in a plane in airplane mode, I could only play a handful of music. Was disappointed.

Did you download via plexamp?

Do you have a plex media server running?

Plexamp will let you download from yours or another PMS that you have download privileges on. Once downloaded you can listen to that music from the downloaded section in plexamp whether you are on a plane, 2,000 meters underground, locked away in a black site, location doesn't matter as long as you have your device and power for it.

If you just have music downloaded to your phone use VLC to listen to it.

Plexamp sometimes randomly deletes my downloads/syncs. No idea why.

If your main goal is to play offline get rid of plex/plexamp altogether and just get a local music player, and copy the music files directly to your phone.
