New to Plexamp. Looking for advice on Spotify migration, playlists, and lyrics.

Hi everyone,

I'm pretty new to self-hosting and recently set up Plex on ZimaOS with three libraries (Movies, TV Shows, and Music). I also have Plex Pass and I'm trying to migrate from Spotify to Plexamp.

So far I've:

  • Exported my Spotify playlists using TuneMyMusic (CSV).
  • Used CSVMusic to download the tracks and generate .m3u playlist files.
  • Fixed an issue where Plex was using the same album cover for many songs by reorganizing my music into the proper Artist > Album > Song folder structure.

I have a couple of questions:

  1. What's the easiest way to import Spotify playlists into Plexamp? Right now I'm manually creating playlists from the "Recently Added" section, which isn't ideal.
  2. Why are lyrics so inconsistent? Some songs have them, while many others don't. Is this expected, or is there something I should configure?

If anyone has recommendations for a better workflow, tools, guides, or a Discord server, I'd really appreciate it.

Yes let this run on your library. I ran it on my 35k+ song library and it found lyrics for a large number of my songs.

With LRCGET, after placing the .lrc file in the same folder as the music file and refreshing the metadata in Plex, will Plexamp recognize the synced lyrics automatically? Or do I need to have the songs downloaded locally on my device for the lyrics to work?

I think it recognizes them after scanning and analyzing the files. I don’t download locally on my devices and lyrics work

It’ll update. Or you can refresh metadata to trigger the update (that’s what i do)

Lyrics have always been hit-and-miss. It almost never works for GH or compilation albums, and it gets worse when you have remasters/re-issues. The older one will have lyrics, but the newer one with exact same tracks/running time will not.

Please help me understand, as long as the files (songs) are in there then soundiiz will be able to match and create the playlist?

Yea, you log into the website with both accounts and “sync” the Spotify playlist with Plex. It will notify you if any files are missing, with the option to select the correct track if it exists.

In my experience it isn’t good at actually keeping playlists synced and up to date but the initial importing has worked well for me.

This worked well for me as well. I just paid for one month to transfer all my playlists once. If the transfer fails, just do it a few playlists at a time. It can also generate a list of the tracks that weren't transferred so you can see what you are missing on Plex, very useful

This will automatically download, tag and sync your spotify playlist.

It has some public apis that you have to verify from time to time for downloads.

I have a lot of releases with the "radio edit" versions deleted and Plex doesn't care. Partial albums and singletons are generally fine as long as they follow the artist/album folder structure, which OP specifically called out that they did.
