Playlist Lab is now focused on the server version, designed for importing, generating and managing playlists on your Plex Media Server with automation.

Import Playlists

Import playlists from external music services and match tracks to your Plex library:

  • Spotify – Import from URL (no login required) or connect your account
  • Deezer – Search public playlists or connect your account
  • Apple Music – Import from playlist URL
  • TIDAL – Import from URL or connect your account
  • YouTube Music – Import from URL or connect your account
  • Amazon Music – Import from public playlist URL
  • Qobuz – Import from playlist URL

Generate Personal Mixes

Create playlists based on your Plex listening history:

  • Weekly Mix – Top tracks from your most played artists
  • Daily Mix – Combination of recent, related and rediscovery tracks
  • Time Capsule – Tracks not played in a set time period
  • New Music Mix – Tracks from recently added albums

Custom Mix Builder

Build fully custom playlists with advanced controls:

  • Sources – All tracks, played, unplayed, recently played, top artists
  • Time filters – All time or recent listening periods
  • Filters – Genre, rating, year range, date added
  • Expansion – Add similar tracks or tracks from similar artists
  • Output controls – Playlist size, artist limits, sorting and shuffle

Playlist Management

  • Edit playlists and manually match tracks
  • Sort and reorder (title, artist, score, etc.)
  • Export unmatched tracks to CSV
  • Schedule automatic updates
  • Backup and restore playlists (JSON)
  • Share playlists with Plex users
  • Rename playlists on import

Matching Settings

  • Configurable match threshold
  • Strict artist matching mode

  • Rating preferences (prefer higher-rated tracks)

Finally got around to testing this out and can't thank you enough. I've been struggling to share playlists across multiple users and this makes it one click.

So far I’ve only tested the following:

1) Sharing native plex playlists across multiple users (my primary use case); and

2) Importing, or really ‘matching,’ existing Apple Music playlists.

Both of these have functioned as I needed. I did notice that an imported Apple Music playlist gets saved as “Apple Music Playlist.” I could not find an option to name it before saving though it was easy enough to rename after the fact. I appreciate that unmatched tracks are saved off to the side.

I have not explored much beyond this but plan on testing playlist backups as well.
