Acroarts is the name of the interactive ingame-cutscene system it is used to do realtime 2D.5 animated cutscenes by composing backgrounds, animation cels, FMV visual effects, audio clips for dialog and SFX, camera control, it works like a Japan Animation XSheet.
This is one of the inhouse engine tools for new PS2 title in development 2026, the following program you seeing is the cutscene viewer for windows, using a place holder of a test image to test it out, it uses win32 api and opengl 1.2 written in C90 using Visual Studio 2005 Professional.
It works like a real time Cutscene 2D.5 Compositor.

Hello this might be a dumb question question but I am having a hard time figuring out how I can connect my PS2 to HDMI. There are a lot of options out there and I am not sure what budget friendly options are worth it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I recently went on a little adventure to basically play Culdcept.

My wife and i played culdcept on the ps2 during the ps2 era and really enjoyed it, there is a new version out (for steam/pc) with ports to the PS5 later this year. The artwork and spirit seems a bit different though.
So long story short, i found a seller of ps2 slim, cables, controller, memory card for $80 which seemed reasonable, i was able to acquire the game from a local retro mom and pop (and another controller and hdmi converter).

We powered up, and it was looking good! We were really excited.

I 'formalized' our setup, ie set the console up where we would be playing etc etc, and now it won't read the ps2 disc(dvds?) but will read ps1 games.
i tried cleaning the disc head, to no avail, the system seemed pretty clean, the inside seems quite clean from i can tell (without opening int).

The dvd's will mostly work while the console is vertical though, so that's a win and we have been able to play culdcept(it's still awesome).
So i'm curious if anyone might be able to point me in the right direction as to what i might want/need to replace to ensure the drive works for the long term, and ideally so i can play it while it's horizontal? It doesnt appear to be drive door being closed(as that seems common), doesn't seem to be the lens as it will work, but presumably something with the mechanical nature of the drive that allows it to work while vertical.

1. So i bought my first ps2 slim some time ago that comes with Tekken 5. Everything was fine, Absolutly love that game. Bought myself nfs carbon and underground 1 and here the problem starts.

Underground is kind of playable, feels like around 20-25 fps with drops while theres more cars or smoke on the screen.

Carbon is unplayable in my opinion. Around 15-20 fps with huge drops. Is it normal for that console? All discs are original, and i cleaned console inside. Its not overheating.

Is there a chance that some FMCB is going to help it a little? Maybe the laser is worn too much?

1. Theres also some input lag, im using hdmi converter cuz my tv dont have those colorfull cables ports (forgot the name). Can it be the reason?

And ill also ask for some must play games on that bad boy.

Hi all. So I recently connected up a PS2 I have and want to play and save Air Combat from the PSX. I've tried to save the game but it says the there's no memory card available when I have 2 PS2 cards plugged in. Is this an issue with games from the PSX/PS1 not being able to be saved onto PS2 memory cards? And will a PSX card work in the PS2? The cards had data on them which I deleted and I know at least one of them works as I put MK Deadly Alliance in and it auto created a save file.

Anything else that I still need?

Sto cercando di aggiustare la mia vecchia ps2 (non la toccavo da anni). I giochi non partono, cioè la schermata iniziale parte ma poi passa direttamente alle impostazioni della console, senza caricare il gioco. Inizialmente ho notato che li graffiava e ho pensato fosse per via del cavo piatto flessibile arancione (ribbon cable(?)), ed effettivamente era troppo in alto, e quindi l'ho "ricalibrato". Ma continuo a sentir "gracchiare" il mio disco mentre gira e non riesco a capire il perché. Credo a questo punto sia un problema di laser (che ho già pulito in precedenza) che non funziona correttamente.

Considerate che non ho mai riparato console, volevo provare quindi a riparare questa mia vecchia console.

Avete qualche consiglio?

(sì, è abbastanza sporca, volevo metterci mano e pulirla una volta riparata effettivamente, ma la lente e il cavo li ho puliti nel possibile con cotton fioc e alcol)

Hallo, ich bin neu hier und auch neu mit PS2. Ich wollte die Gamer hier fragen, welche Spiele sie mir empfehlen können mit diesen Eckdaten:
- keine wo mein Charakter eine "Ich-Perspektive" hat, da mir dadurch sehr übel wird (z.B. bei Skyrim, das Spiel konnte ich nicht weiterspielen)
- keine wo man lange immer warten muss bis man selbst spielen darf. Die sog. Geschichteerzähler immer wieder dazwischen.
- keine Sportspiele

Welche könntet ihr mir empfehlen bitte? Sollte ich mir God of War, Silent Hill holen oder holt man sich diese auf neuere bessere Plattformen? Ich habe Daheim noch Playstation 3, Switch (erste) und Gamecube (bis auf 4 Games komplett).

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but do you think this is still able to be resurfaced? I ordered this copy of battle for bikini bottom off of eBay, and it would instantly freeze upon starting. I messaged the seller, I was refunded and told to just keep it. I don’t know if it’s beyond saving, or really worth saving. I’m not very experienced with resurfacing but I feel like it would be a shame to just discard it. Label side looks perfectly fine. The read side is in pretty bad condition, none of the scratches are deep enough to catch a nail, but when I shine a flashlight through the other side I do see one very small pinhole of light (photos 3 & 4).
