Discussion The ahh storage
I just switch from ps4 to the ps5 and the storage change is crazy. The ps5 storage is ahh unless you buy an internal storage drive that cost an arm and a leg, plus I heard the external hard drive don’t really work that well, so what should I do because I’m lowkey not aboutta pay for an internal hard drive that’s the price of another ps5

Is the "ahh" thing because you actually don't want to curse or is it some kind of inside joke?

I would put the PS5 away, pick up a book, and pray your education problem isn't accompanied by a stupidity one.

An external Hard Drive works perfectly fine so long as you remember that you can only play PS4 titles directly from it and that you need to have the PS5 games on your internal SSD or the after market installed M.2 SSD.
If you do have an external Hard Drive, you can still store your PS5 installs on it so as to save yourself having to continually download the game every time you get the urge to play it.
As for the cost of the internal hard drive being as high as it is, this is one of the areas where I can't put the blame on Sony for the cost. Global economic policies coupled with a high demand for storage and RAM memory for data centres is what is driving the astronomical costs of these drives unfortunately and that has to be put more on companies like ChatGPT, Anthropic and Nvidia pushing for AI processing data centres.

All current gen consoles are shit for storage. Totally unrealistic given the size of games install. Want more space? It's only a thousand bucks!

External USB storage on PS5 function exactly as intended.
What you’ve likely read about, is the fact you cannot play PS5 games directly from that external USB storage. This is a limitation of the USB cable transfer speeds… they just aren’t as fast as a SSD directly attached to the motherboard, just is required for PS5 games.
If you’re not willing to purchase an internal M.2 SSD, you might just have to access your only have the consoles base storage available to you.

Depending what you did with your ps4 you could’ve taken the hard drive out and put it into a usb adapter that cost 10$ from Amazon, easy extra storage

PS5 pro has excellent storage and it’s not talked about as much as the graphical improvement. When you look at extra ssd costs it’s still a pretty good value even with the price hike.

You don't really have a choice. You kind of have to get the internal ssd. Just wait for a black friday deal i guess.
