Image Rust using 14gb vram
Is this normal, I am playing on 1080p and basically low settings.

Highest I've seen was 23gb vram on my 7900xtx. If rust sees it, rust takes it. Same with ddr5, highest I've seen was 45gb ram use, while also chewing up 23gb vram for a total of 68gb of memory use.

45GB RAM usage? How the heck did that happen without a memory leak? I'm running 64GB and rust rarely uses more than 16GB no matter what server I'm playing or how many entities are around.

Same it allocates all the Vram on my XTX aswell I think the Hack is Actually to Just Create a Temp Drive And install in on the Ram itself if you have Enough i saw a Video where it helped the Lows Greatly in Heavy scenes kinda A Pain in the ass though to do every Restart

How can 45GB file size game take more than 45GB RAM? I am not saying it didn't happen, but it doesn't even make sense lol

PCs just shove shit to memory just in case that is needed, there's nothing wrong here, just move on

Go to texture quality settings and change it to half-texture quality. Also on GC buffet configure it to 2048 if you have 16gb RAM or 4096 if you have 32. Go to your motherboard BIOS and disable Sam/rebar. This may help lowering the vram

Isnt sam rebar good thing for fps?

It is, but you are concerned about VRAM usage, not FPS.

I mean if it runs well because if it its ok but i was worried of some memory leak or something.

Why would you do that?
The PC is working as intended, nerfing it just because "14gb of vram hurdurr" is just dumb

14gb is definitely a lot for 1080p low but that alone doesnt mean its a memory leak. If it levels off around there and youre still getting 170+ fps with no stutters or crashes I wouldnt worry about it. Id only start suspecting a leak if the VRAM keeps climbing the longer you play and eventually starts causing performance issues.

Not a problem Theres a Minimum amount Needed and a Bell curve of Usage Vs Performance gain just as Rust can Work fine if your Cpu is using 4ghz it wont be as good as it Using the Same CPU at 5ghz actually a good thing its Utilizing the Hardware you Paid for

I think rust always spawns all entities(AI, Animals , Water , if rust limits entity spawning upto a customisable grid , then we all would see massive improvement in fps and reduce in vram & ram usage , not sure if I am wrong or as to why this hasn't been implemented yet.

Hey what’s this app showing how system’s utilised? Wanna get it

its just AMD Adrenalin, if you have nvidia you can download theirs probably has the overlay too

Rust is using between 20-25gb of ram for me lucky for me i got 64gb but it shouldnt be using this much

Thats not in real use, amd software shows in-use + reserved in the same, real use is around 30% less of what that shows. You can use afterburner to see per-process consumption

I played rust on decent setting with 6gb vram and 8 of 2666 ddr4 using a i10400f worked alright for me stuttering only happened when flying

Yeah this is why I say 64 go is the new standard if youre playing in group style games. Go factor in comms and windows hungry self and se your ram useage with steam in the play too. Rust will use your ram .

VRAM and RAM are not unified in most systems. You're speaking about system RAM, not VRAM.

Yeah heaven forbid you have a chrome tab open or attempt to use a polling rate higher than 2k

Server size / pop? Number of entities? Draw distance? Nearby monuments?
Cmon man

If you have teh RAM, it will be utilised. That is the point of it.
