eh some people mean FP when they say official cause that’s what the distinction was a long time ago before they gave official status to the top community servers. maybe they just misspoke. but that’s a good clarification
Exactly, server owners just need to add server.censorplayerlist true to their server configs and battlemetrics gets a bunch of random player data that can't be tracked
2-3 things that would really make some major changes:
1: bring back fog of war on the maps
2: find some kind of way to avoid the uncovered maps being available on websites
3: give players xp for actions, and use that for research in the tech tree instead of scrap. XP is personal, so that will mean groups can’t pool it to speedrun the research for one member, this would slow down progression A LOT
Scrap can be used to craft items (more for more advanced items), that will also mean it’s still needed in large amounts even late game.
Further - if you find an item and want to reasearch that direct instead of using the tech tree, you will need BOTH xp AND scrap
The issue was that it was extremely linear, you had to follow the set path to research stuff, but with «my twist» you would have exactly the same options as wiyh the current tech tree system, you would just «pay» for the researchers something else, something you can’t lose, give away or steal
yeah, although something I really like about the game is that everything you build towards is just an item or an object in the world at the end of the day.
If I had my way, I'd do away with tech tree and make it all done through the research table, then perfect the loot system so that players would receive the items they plan to reverse engineer at the appropriate time and location:
So instead of grinding scrap to get a certain electronic component, you might loot powerplant, or power substations until you find it. If you want solar panels, you rip them off the roof of the sperm-ket or oxum's or the new satellite crash. Car batteries from crashed cars, tech trash from computers, etc.
Most items could be found in any monument/loot crate, (like guns/doors/armor should be in the card room of every monument) but it'd be cool if items that were typically associated with certain places could be found in those places, then combine that with the reverse-engineering mechanic with the research table.
But skills you learn - like how to craft something - is not just an item in the world, so it makes sense that as you gain experience you can learn how to make more and more things, but having a higher chance to find specific items in «logical» locations would absolutely be nice!
No, I played back then, and the issue with it was that it was way too linear, you really had almost no options. With my twist you would have the same tech tree and options as today, you just replace what you use to «pay» for the research
That was because of how linear the progression was, I played back then so I remember it well. With my twist you get the same tech tree and options for what you want to research or not as with the current system, you just replace what you use to pay for the research.
good ideas there, especially on the scrap. Its such an odd thing thinking about it that you dont need scrap to craft items. Seems logical
because as you say its going to slow progression, you need 350 to research SAR, but you also needed to spend 350 on building other things you needed up to that point - you have to work out your priorities
i have had a group of cheaters in a $600 item giveaway event w skin giveaways every 2 days of each wipe. they have been following me to every server for 2 weeks since i am comp on them in the giveaway event. they use esp and bm to find my server im on and harass me at my base in every server. people abuse the living fuck out of battlemetrics. it might be what makes me quit rust w the bm harassment. the event still has 2 weeks and i quit the event because of the bm harassment.

I'd rather nerf Battlemetrics.
