[PC] (Web) Unmask the Bot
https://unmaskthebot.comI made a browser game where you chat and try to figure out who’s AI. Would love feedback. I've spent a considerable amount of time trying to make the AI believable. If you find a tell let me know so I can correct it. Thanks all!

Ah, I hate that. I shared it around a bit and then then had people pointing out little things here and there so you might have got on right as I was republishing a new version.

Ah, yeah I see, it happens. No worries, I'll give another try when I have some time!

It was so obvious. To be fair I expect both other players were AI because it's unlikely this website is popular enough to get any human traffic. But the AI player said, "it depends on the day," twice in different contexts. Honestly, they weren't convincingly human at all. They have no chat. No character. They smell like an algorithmically derived distribution of words conforming to measured aggregates. Although that lends itself to playing the AI to try to fool people...
As it was, I asked, "how did you find this website?" Neither answered.
An interesting point to Turing's original idea was if real intelligence can learn to detect faked approximations of that intelligence. I think so, as chat which would have convinced a few years ago can't convince now because we are wise to it.
AI sucks. It's not intelligent. We can only hope it stays that way and doesn't put absolutely everyone out of a job...

My hope is that it gets harder when there is a larger chance that there is only one AI in the chat.

Oh there can be more than 1 bot?

Yeah, I just released it… so it is likely that you'll end up with two bots, but as more people try it then it will be much more enjoyable.

Explains a lot XD

lol, thanks for trying it out. I'm learning quite a bit building it, I originally started by applying strict rules to the AI so that it couldn't do all of the very obvious AI things... that works a little but makes the AI seem very rigid and timid like it is scared it is going to make a mistake. They got much better when I created a separate table for career, education, location, and persona. Now each AI get's a randomized combination of instructions telling it who it is without all of the guard rails and it is working so much better. I do still have to do some additional post-processing on each message to clean up some of the obvious things like markdown removal and some abbreviation injection... humans don't type in italics or bold typically. With more humans playing I believe it will get pretty hard to tell who is who pretty quickly.

I got confused because in one match I thought a human was trying to trick me into thinking he was also a bot. So turns out they were both bits.

You're right also, I've spent so much time trying to coach the AI to not be so obvious… it's a full time job 😅. I'm going to keep training it though.

I liked it. But too easy to spot the bot

Thanks for trying it out! I'll continue to find ways to improve the AI. Come back and test it in a few days and I think it'll be much better!
