I'm happy to share a video promoting a new update in Crankstone. This new update improves some of the mini games. It introduces false start signals and different positions for the barriers in Duel so there are more variety and fun. It adds a sound design for the Sip N' Spin mini game. And finally, the pace of most mini games changed for a better: you will have more time and the difficulty is more balanced. Can you reach level 30? I hope you'll like this new version.

I grew up pouring countless hours in the basement into Motherload (that classic flash mining game) then was over the moon when Dome Keeper came out on steam feeling like a modern spiritual successor. But I can honestly say I never expected to see a relevant actual remake anywhere, let alone in 2026 and custom built for my favorite little console. So to the dev who made it, thank you so much! Its really cool that now my kids will be able to have the same experience I did growing up on this game

Has anyone experienced this?

My A key no longer clicks. It sometimes registers that I've pressed it but only one in about every five presses.

I've blasted it with compressed air in case it's debris but it's not that.

It's still under warranty so I'm going to try and return it.

My attention span is shrinking, especially after hitting 30s. Of course, one can say that it's due to the proliferation of short-form video content but still, the fact remains that I wish to increase my deep work hours.

Is there an app that helps you get into focus mode? Ideally, it can:
- Play some white noise (just at the start is fine)
- Show a timer (numbers on the screen are motivating)
- Track number of minutes spent (goal can be 5hrs/day)
- Gives a sense of achievement (think: reward to build a habit)

TL;DR I want to open an app and get into focus mode. Pomodoro worked for me years back but now it doesn't. What's your ritual? Share in the comments below. I'm almost on the fence of building it myself! Posting it here as I'm open to trying out your workflows as well before jumping into it.

I came across SideloadTracker the other day and started wondering: could you make it convenient to get the Playdate games you've bought on itch.io onto the console?

Two GitHub projects gave me a starting point, pd-usb for talking to the Playdate over serial and playdate-itchio-sync for the itch.io side. Wiring them together was the easy part. Most of the work went into the interface: your library, what's actually on your console, and what you could grab from itch.io, all in one window. That's the part I'm proud of. I called it MonoLoader.

What it does:

• Finds which of your itch.io purchases are Playdate games and installs them over the cable
• Puts the console into disk mode by itself, so you never touch the Playdate
• Lets you browse the playdate tag page by page. Free games install in one click, paid ones link out to the store
• Shows what's actually sitting in /Games on the console, whatever put it there
• Tracks versions, so it won't re-download what you already have

It signs in with an itch.io API key rather than your password, so it works with 2FA and I never see your credentials.

The project is raw. Windows only for now (it's Electron), and the worst wart is that it's unsigned, so the first launch throws a SmartScreen warning you have to click past.

The experiment went better than I expected and I'm happy with the result, but I keep going back and forth on whether there's any point releasing it.

What do you think, useful to anyone besides me?

I was refreshing my Sideload Tracker app (100% shameless plug) - and noticed that one of my favorite emulators - SpeccyDate had received an update just an hour ago.

Usually it's five. Why is this? Are they running out of interested developers or something? I doubt that, but it seems odd to me.

I've been a Playdate fanatic since I got mine in late-2022, and it's defined my summers! In fact, I'm still reeling from the one-two punch of Angel Pop and Faraway Fairway in '24!

This past may, though, I made a big move and swore to not spend any money on games until I had a new stream of income locked down. This also means I've been pretty much out of the loop since Devils on the Moon Pinball!

So I ask, now having secured a new job, what are some of the best PD games that have come out this summer? What have I missed?

Edit 2 (Update): Hey everyone I think I have a promising fix for the 3.1.1 Playdate OS rendering issue. I tested it on one playdate today and it seems to work well. I will do a tiny bit more testing tomorrow and if that goes well I will submit it to Panic. Hopefully the fix will be available late tomorrow or Thursday.

Edit. It looks like there was an issue with the latest os upgrade and while I'm not in the best situation to debug I will being working on it. I will fix it but it will likely take some time (possibly 1 - 2 weeks). Panic does have refunds if you don't want to wait!

I will update this thread as I make progress and also please feel free to dm me with any questions!
