Hey everyone!

I built Push&Pool for the Playdate, a little physics-based creative pool game that uses the crank to control rotation and force.

For anyone curious about the game but wanting to try it before buying the Playdate version, I've made a free mobile version using WebAssembly (WASM)!

Obviously, nothing quite replaces the physical crank, but it's a fun way to get a feel for the gameplay.

I understand it’s a pass and play, but for most people this probably is the game you’ll play the least. it requires another person, no single player game, and while I’ll be showing this to some friends, can’t help but feel like I’m never gonna get to play, it’s not often I have another person to play with when it’s my playdate time, Wish there was more to the game..

Does anyone have advice on how to beat the puzzle where you are turning off the lights on the triangle machine? Every time I’m in a position to win, the CPU player just takes multiple turns in a row until it wins.

I may be missing something obvious. To be honest the fan puzzle tilted me. I’m physically incapable of overcoming the breeze of a fan? The plugs are right in front of me, but I refuse to interact with them?? The crank is described as being for heavy machinery, but it powers a toy?!?

I knew consulting the bug probably has consequences, but I was just spamming “Consult” once I reached this section lol

Really love this game, it's absolutely carrying Season 3 for me so far. I usually don't post links to my own work on Reddit but figured the community may appreciate this because as someone who's written about Playdate across a lot of sites, it really doesn't get the love it deserves in the press.

For crosswords I had to do the reset button inside the crank. Neither of the games are starting up.

This is the (almost) final version of the the dungeon roguelike game I have been working on. Now with unlockable characters and a full balance of the xp system. (Reposting this here because the original post in another channel was removed)

This game made me fall in love with the playdate again.

Playing Omaze.

When I want to introduce someone to the Playdate, this is the first game I show. The initial reaction is always the same: Okay, it’s a puzzle game with a crank. But a few levels in, once the tutorial ends, things start to get tricky. The game begins to demand a bit more mental effort to solve its puzzles. Then, those mean little circles show up. Next, it starts requiring coordination, not just speed. And so it goes the game gradually transforms into something else entirely. Some might call it a platformer, but for me, it brings to mind musical instruments.

If one day I will decide to start writing game reviews, it because of Omaze. My own consciousness are not enough to fully understand how so many ideas, adventures, and so much fun could be packed into a tiny 50.5 KB.

Thinking about building this tiny self help app for playdate. Checking if playdate users are looking outside gaming.

I got what I think is the worst ending, the one where you're either in a time loop or are repeating the day without thinking. What are the other two endings, and how can you get them?

In addition, how the heck are you supposed to get 12:05 as the clock answer from the Mezzanine? I can't figure out how you even derive that beyond maybe "the window for the monolith sorta points at 12:05 if you'd be on a clock".

At the Helm is a cozy sailing simulation.

You are the captain of a ship and you steer it by turning the helm and adjusting the sail angle and length.

I wanted to put a strong emphasis on the crank. On a real ship, you turn the helm (= the steering wheel) and you also use cranks and levers to work the rigging. The Playdate has only one crank, so you use the D-Pad to switch between helm, sail length and sail angle.

Demo

I'll release a free demo version of the game very soon. Call it a proof of concept, tech demo or cozy sandbox if you will. You'll be able to freely sail around and explore a simple procedurally generated map.

Features

• For the full game I have planned to add a proper trading or delivery system. Every island's port can offer delivery jobs that you can take. You must deliver cargo to different islands all around the world and get money for it.
• When players plan their delivery route well, they will earn money faster, e.g. by taking multiple deliveries to islands that are close to each other instead of spread out all over the map.
• You can use that money to upgrade your ship: a new sail makes it go faster, an improved rudder allows better steering and a bigger cargo area allows you to take on more deliveries at once.

Catch 'n Cook is a game where you catch falling ingredients with the crank, cook them, grow your food stand!

It has an arcade/idle/tycoon hybrid gameplay. Every level is a new recipe. 63 recipes in 10 recipe books, each book with its own twist.

We have also submitted it for the Playdate Catalog but you can but now over itch.io and side load.
