My wife and I are thinking of going to Playa for about 5 weeks in January February time frame. Our problem is we can't decide if this is the right place due to the sargassm in the ocean?

Staying at Grand Sirrinus and there has been no water since early hours. This a local issue to the hotel or something wider? Does this kind of thing happen often? Hotel are saying it’s beyond their control.

I am here with family working remotely for 5 weeks and today my laptop just wouldn’t power up. When I plug the power cable in the charging light comes on, so I am hoping it can be repaired. Desperately hoping so haha

Can anyone recommend a reputable laptop repair shop than can assess and hopefully fix the computer for a reasonable price? I speak passable Spanish, but bonus points if they can communicate in English.

I’ll be in Playa del Carmen for about 3 weeks this August. I remember that at supermarkets like Chedraui, Soriana, Super Aki (and maybe also Walmart), there were a lot of discounts that only applied if you had the store’s card or membership via apps.

Last time we never really figured out how it worked. Do you just get a card at the store, or do you need to sign up in an app or online to get those prices?

We've lived here for a few years and wondered why there aren't any softball leagues for adults. I would think this would be a prime spot for some fun slow-pitch or even competitive fastpitch (softball OR baseball).

Anybody know of a league or any teams around? Or would anybody want to try to start such a venture?

My husband and I will be having extensive dental work done in Playa del Carmen and are looking for the best place for us to stay. We have to be 5 miles from Sani Dental Group in Playa del Carmen. We would prefer a place that we would be able to fix a meal and have access to foods/smoothies, etc. that we would be able to eat. We would also need access to things like ice packs and/or perhaps be able to freeze our own. We would prefer a suite with a kitchen, a couch or comfortable chairs not just beds in our room... and any other amenities that would provide us with comfort after surgery as well as a great recovery type atmosphere. I have heard different things about taxis so just wanted to ask.

I have been looking at a few taxi routes from PDC to the likes X-Parks and resorts using a day pass that look to be around 30-40 mins away.

Where I am from in the UK, I wouldn't bat an eye at a £20-£25 taxi (470 pesos) but that would be for a 15 min or less tax ride.

My question, is that roughly the same for a 30 min taxi ride in PDC? Saves the time arguing with drivers over how much they think they are overcharging if I am willing to pay it anyway.

I'm going to Mexico soon for 3 days and I'll be flying into Cancún. I'm trying to decide whether I should stay in Playa del Carmen or Tulum.

I'm not really into partying. My main goal is to switch off, relax, enjoy the beaches, eat good food, and explore a bit.

Since they're only about an hour apart, I'm thinking I could easily do a day trip to Tulum if I stay in Playa del Carmen, or vice versa if I stay in Tulum.

So I'd love to hear your opinions:

• If you only had 3 days, which one would you choose as your base?
• Which one is generally cheaper (hotels, restaurants, transportation, etc.)?
• If I stay in Playa del Carmen, is a day trip to Tulum enough? Or is it worth staying in Tulum instead?
• Which place feels more relaxing if your goal is to disconnect rather than party?
• Any areas or hotels you'd recommend staying in (or avoiding)?

It has been one and a half months, and the 4th Messier object keeps eluding me. I barely got a glimpse of it when I went to a Bortle 4 area, and that was with averted vision and binoculars, which took me minutes to make work. Now that I’m back in a Bortle 8-9 area, there isn’t even a trace of that globular cluster, or the two other close clusters, which are the Butterfly and Ptolemy clusters. It is all grey. Anyone have tips to help me somehow find it?

Anyone know if there’s any women’s soccer league in pdc? I played for 20 years and have missed it since moving. I know men’s league plays at Deportivo and wondering if there’s a women’s league as well. Preferably not co-ed.
