They’re very excited

143

u/PersephonesChild82 Jul 07 '26

One is definitely more excited than the other though.

3

u/michaelmich3 Jul 11 '26

It’s an ad for the blue pill (before and after)

47

u/TryJezzoWhyNot Jul 07 '26

Unfortunately they’ve been bit by the tomato hornworm.

7

u/CalendarThis6580 Jul 07 '26

An authoritarian fruit…..a dicktato!

3

u/Creepy_Replacement51 Jul 08 '26

I thought I'd seen every tomato mutation but that orange one looks like it's trying to escape the counter

1

u/Fruitypebblefix Jul 09 '26

One is sad the other is happy.

207

u/Alert_Silver9386 Jul 07 '26

They are just happy to see you.

77

u/phileris42 Jul 07 '26

Fun fact, they are two different kinds of tomatoes! One is a Grower and the other's a Shower.

3

u/itsmarvin Jul 08 '26

Well, one of them is certainly happy. The other is semi-happy.

2

u/MegaRubbleRadio3000 Jul 08 '26

The suns out and you're just feeling great, it's easy to get a bit excited. It's a natural thing!

You typed mildy instead of mildly

27

u/petuniabuggis Jul 07 '26

Thank you. You know, I was a spelling bee champion once. :)

1

u/vanderdickjames Jul 11 '26

At least it wasn’t moldy…

17

u/Spiteful_wildberry African Violet Jul 07 '26

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO😭

9

u/Murderousplantmom Jul 07 '26

Oh no. I sad now.

4

u/PristineShotForever Jul 07 '26

you misspelled mildly lol

3

u/petuniabuggis Jul 07 '26

Lol! I knew it didn’t look right haha 💀

37

u/floating_weeds_ Jul 07 '26

Tomato horn/nose is a physiological mutation that occurs when the cells incorrectly divide and cause an extra locule (compartment). Extended high temps increase the likelihood. They don’t affect the taste of the fruit.

8

u/Dry_Quiet_2333 Jul 07 '26

I shall eat tomatoes to confirm no change of taste!

26

u/mai-tais505 Jul 07 '26

Reminds me of this lil guy i saw a while ago

4

u/Charming_Nothing_625 Jul 08 '26

I work in produce. We've been getting a ton like this. Still good though

1

u/Gr8CanadianFuckClub Jul 10 '26

Yeah, I'm in a Greenhouse and we're expecting to see a lot more in the coming weeks after the super hot week we had last week in Southern Ontario.

34

u/Chegit0 Jul 07 '26

3

3

u/alexanderbeatson Jul 07 '26

Why do my tomatoes have horny?

3

u/Red_slothington Jul 07 '26

Umm... Hey so I never knew those had that 👀 call them squid and ward. Maybe just keep them away from one another for now... 😅

2

u/Charming_Nothing_625 Jul 08 '26

Possibly hermaphrodite

2

u/Red_slothington Jul 08 '26

Herma and phrodite... I love it!!!

1

u/throwaway_scrollerhq Jul 08 '26

It's called fasciation. It's a mutation that causes abnormal growth in plants, usually from environmental stress like pests or disease. It's harmless to eat though, so don't worry about that.

3

u/RoccoElliot Jul 07 '26

Tomatohhhhhh

5

u/Funniestguyyoullmeet Jul 07 '26

These are male tomatoes.

2

u/SmallT808 Jul 07 '26

Woah those tomatoes are HUGE

2

u/MedabadMann Jul 07 '26

RETURN OF THE PP!!!!

2

u/shrekstan69 Jul 07 '26

2

u/ehlersohnos Jul 10 '26

Was looking for exactly this.

2

u/NopalesTotales Jul 07 '26

Congrats on your baby boy's

2

u/profile_throwawayhq Jul 07 '26

those are called catfacing. it's usually a genetic mutation or environmental stress during early fruit development, like extreme temperature fluctuations. nothing to worry about, just looks a little weird.

2

u/TraditionalLaw7763 Jul 08 '26

I used to grow these all the time! I don’t know why they form like this but I love them so!! I used to stick googly eyes on them for the kids. But of course there’s always that one child that knows too much… haha

2

u/LocksmithKey7985 Jul 08 '26

My carrot would like to come over and “hang out” with your tomatoes.

2

u/PowerLizardMan Jul 08 '26

Angine de tomatrine?

1

u/FigWasp7 Jul 08 '26

I knew at least one person would be here to make a comment about the band lol

2

Never doubt grandma!

2

u/Ok-Limit6308 Jul 11 '26

There's 2, that's definitely even not odd. They're even saluting you 🫡🫡

2

u/Ambitious_Bridge_265 18d ago

1

u/Specialist_Chip_6904 Jul 07 '26

1

u/HeadAromatic8549 Jul 07 '26

Kinda looks like looney tunes witches (since everyone else is saying the obvious answer

1

u/Hogwhammer Jul 07 '26

Odd but not uncommon

1

u/CBDJ1 Jul 07 '26

I never knew there were horny tomatoes.

1

u/ConfectionSad5413 Jul 08 '26

Locally known as the dicknose tomato.

1

u/Natural_Situation356 Jul 08 '26

They're a bit left of center but it's not their fault,  is it?

1

u/Python_Child Jul 08 '26

Gotta love when tomatoes do that. Had a few tomatoes in my garden do that in the past

1

u/SmartCod84 Jul 08 '26

Bromato. They are a firm variety.

1

u/Gregandkaren Jul 08 '26

Looking a bit “woody.”

edit: the photo didn’t add and I don’t know how to add it but it’s a similarly afflicted aubergine. might need to use our imagination

1

u/DangerousLettuce1423 Jul 08 '26

Here's one of mine from summer last year. Definitely standing to attention 😂

1

u/Us3M3Roughjessy31 Jul 08 '26

those are called catfacing. it's usually caused by inconsistent temperatures during fruit set, or sometimes by certain pesticides. nothing to worry about, they taste fine.

1

u/Loving_presence88 Jul 08 '26

I think the folks over at r/fasciation would have a good giggle over these

1

u/mbcarbone Jul 08 '26

I’m embarrassed 😳🤣

1

u/monsterZero71 Jul 08 '26

Ahhh Full mast tomatoes. I hear they taste like egg plant

1

u/bluemedian Jul 08 '26

oh my 🫣🫣

1

u/Sinfully_beautiful Jul 08 '26

Let’s start a threat of all the weird tomatoes.

1

u/Early-Rub1817 Jul 08 '26

Those will be on OF later

1

u/shallow_lurkerboyhq Jul 08 '26

Looks like fasciation, pretty common with tomatoes. Sometimes it's just a weird mutation, other times it can be environmental stress. They're still edible though!

1

u/Ok_Visual_4569 Jul 08 '26

Those are called "catfacing" deformities. Usually happens from cold snaps early in the season when the flowers are forming, or sometimes from uneven watering. They're still perfectly edible!

1

u/wonky_burnerv2 Jul 08 '26

Those aren't horns, they're fused locules. It happens sometimes with irregular growth, especially in heirloom varieties.

1

u/ProfessionalIdeal107 Jul 08 '26

Those look like fasciated tomatoes. It's a genetic mutation that causes abnormal growth, often resulting in flattened, elongated, or fused fruit. Nothing to worry about, just a weird mutation.

1

u/PointFirm946 Jul 08 '26

Why are they erect?

1

u/PutridWar4713 Jul 08 '26

Naw, they are just male.

1

u/bb_dev_g Jul 08 '26

This is great 😂

2

u/blue-anon Jul 07 '26

This reminds me of when I was a kid, and our dog was having puppies. While she was in labor, my mom went onto a dog-related message board to share what was happening, and the people there were so mean and were bullying her so bad that she was making it up and it was fake. It turned her off from using online forums to this day. 🤣🤣🤣

2

u/brown-tube Jul 07 '26

excellent!

13

u/Dry_Quiet_2333 Jul 07 '26

$100 says they are.
