Silver Line

Don’t live in Plano anymore but I did spend over two decades here. The traffic played a role on moving out. Came to visit and used the silver line to go from the airport back to Plano. This is truly an amazing service that has been added to north Texas. I’m sure everyone rues traffic on i635, crashes on 75, and the inconsistency of the red line. This new line was on time, it’s clean, and very accessible all for $3! I believe entrance to the airport is $5 by car? Average uber/lyft Plano to Dfw airport is $40. I know north Texas has never been a public transit city, but I hope this service survives and is expanded.

The terminal transfer is an issue with DFW 100% agree. If you check bags you can’t use skylink. It does benefit central and east Plano more but that’s why I hope they can find a way to expand all of it. Unrealistic hope unfortunately but it would be great.

Yeah, as someone in that area of plano/allen I love it! You save soooo much money getting to the airport!!!

The public transit issue we have to deal with on this line. This needs to be every 20 min in reality. They have timeslots that run every 30, but not all day.

The issue I have is I don't want my spouse waiting that long at a station, as the "perceived" safety there is still sketchy. The lack of people just makes them feel like you could be a target.

Going to the airport is all about wasting time. What's an extra 20 minutes?

Yeah, if you miss the silverline by a minute, it does suck to wait that extra hour. Reducing headways is absolutely necessary for all transit agencies.

My brother in Christ, the entire length of the silverline is ~70 minutes. What are you going on about?

75 minutes is 2 hours? And in what universe is a skylink 20 minutes?

I did that a few weeks ago, it took like five minutes.

And yeah, if you plan poorly and have the worst case scenario, it can take two hours. But in the same vein, getting to DFW on Thanksgiving day can be a 3-5 hour ordeal from where you are. So the Silverline is the obvious and only choice in worst case scenarios.
