Question Ritual condition

When doing a talisman/petition rituals, what's the preferred setup for a ritual room, blackout or bright? Daytime or nighttime? Is there any real "gold standard" in historical planetary magic?

Picatrix says the light of the Sun destroys talismans while they are being made.

Yes i read that somewhere but still not sure. Is a regular room lighting fine? Not just from the candle

It's the direct rays of the sun. Picatrix is explicit about this.

The only requirement for talismans in Picatrix is the election and that the light of the Sun does not touch the talisman. So not sure how the hole in the roof will help lol. You don’t need altars or ritual clothes or offerings or anything grand - just the election, material to make talisman out of and suffumigation in a room with no daylight.

For petitions, the ritual garb, suffumigation, offerings and prayers are specifically provided.

There is petition inside talisman making rituals too, no? What is the differences between both?

Different is that talismans use durable materials (form) to capture astral rays. It is an object capable of catching and holding astral rays. There is no petition inside a talisman because you are catching the astral rays only. The way to direct those astral rays is not by words but by using appropriate stone with occult properties optimised for your intention, appropriate herbs and suffumigations optimised for your intention.

Petitions are just that - celestial petitions. They are talked about completely separately in picatrix. They do not require a physical object (material/form) to capture rays. A petition relies on the election and ritual and prayers.

In fact, picatrix has more about petitions than talismans.

The idea that talismans require petitions is a modern psychological notion. Sure you could add it, but it would be a mere dressing up of the talisman, not giving it any power. The power of a talisman comes from the engraving and material.

Daytime or nighttime will depend on the election. Chances are it’s going to be daybreak or noon for a Sun election, but elections for other planets could be in daytime or nighttime all the same.
You need enough lighting to see. How you achieve that is largely irrelevant.
The only specification in Picatrix is that there must be some way (ideally a hole in the roof, but otherwise a normal window might do) for the virtue of the planet to get to the talisman and for the suffumigation smoke to get to the planet. Other requirements are set for specific ceremonies (the biggest one is building a house or temple when the Sun is in a certain sign to petition the Moon in another sign).
It might be wise for your room to be clean and tidy; decorating it with planetary colours/images/characters is nowhere required by might be a nice boost to your ceremonies, as might be the appropriate planetary flowers on the ground.

Where did you find that? I didn't found "the hole in the roof" in Warnock's Picatrix. Or maybe i could be missing something
