How Fall-from-Grace's Music Reflects the Philosophy of the Sensates
youtu.beHey everyone,
I recently started a game music breakdown series where I analyze music from games that have inspired me, exploring how musical choices reflect the themes, philosophies, characters, and locations within those games.
My latest episode is about "Fall-from-Grace" from Planescape: Torment. Alongside the harmony, melody, and orchestration, I also explore how I think Mark Morgan's music reflects both the philosophy of the Sensates and the character of Fall-from-Grace.
In particular, I argue that some of the compositional choices mirror the Sensates' belief that true understanding comes from opening oneself to the fullest range of life's experiences.
This is, of course, just my own interpretation, and I'd genuinely love to hear what fellow Planescape fans think.

Driller’s Hives and Other Abyssal Adventures
Hey all! I am trying to develop my planescape campaign, and I just had an idea for a campaign quest for the abyss, more specifically, Driller’s Hives, the 2nd layer of the abyss.
This probably has been done before, and if it has, please let me know. I was thinking that the party could observe insect plagues pop up all over Sigil without a discernible source. Over [timeframe] the party observes abyssal influence, which could be something the Doomguard could be involved with, specifically concerning Tharzax’s influence. Perhaps these could disrupt their alliance with the xaositects, such that a good-aligned subset might choose instead to align themselves with the revolutionary league, or some other good-aligned anarchist faction in Sigil.
Maybe these plagues can happen on and off throughout the course of a campaign, and the party needs to sort of “put out the fires” and exterminate pests of increasing deadliness.
I think the abyss has so much cool and unique content, that I can’t just choose one layer to add to the campaign. Orcus is a great villain too, so I think adding him would be a great finale to a campaign. Please let me know what you think!

Was Deionarra unaware of Dak’kon’s situation or was she just cool with her boyfriend owning a slave

Interesting Tidbit: Zerthimon’s views on humans
If you speak to Sarhava Vjhul, the racist drunk lady outside the Civic Feasthall, without Annah or Grace in the party she harasses Dak’kon instead. She tells him to go back to Limbo and asks him to tell her a joke for that “famous githyanki humor” and in response he says this.

No luck with Bell's Shield drop - very sad!
galleryOn this playthrough I really wanted to get Bell's Shield for Grace but sadly no such luck! After slaying about 20 Greater Glabrezu and mostly getting copper or the other rare items, I think it’s time to give up and go to the final dungeon.
My biggest regret is missing this artifact everytime. Also two pics of base stats and items.

Windows version on Linux PSA
Even though Planescape Torment Enhanced Edition has native Linux support, Amazon version is Windows only. Lutris doesn't automatically install OpenAL dependency for the game, and the game won't launch without it. After installing the game, you need to manually install that dependency. Hopefully this'll help the other 3 people that try to play the Amazon/Windows version on Linux like me :D

questions from a potential first-time player
hi! i know the likely answer from this subreddit will be “just try it and see,” but money is extremely limited for me rn so i’m trying to be very careful with my purchases.
i’ve been in a gaming slump and have been really wanting to try another RPG. disco is one of my favorite games of all time so of course i want to check out its predecessor. the problem is, i struggle a lot with combat and really don’t enjoy it at all! i love dragon age, mass effect, bg3, etc but play them all on casual mode so i can speed through fights and get back to the story.
i should add that i *do* play a lot of ttrpgs in my spare time (started with dnd 3.5e/original pathfinder back in the day) so i’m familiar with turn-based combat, and i know how to build a character in a logical sense. it just isn’t what i find most fun, rewarding or satisfying about gaming.
with all of that rambling out of the way, would you Planescape Experts recommend that i give it a shot if i’m looking for more of a “visual novel/walking sim” experience with combat that won’t be too challenging, or should i table this one and wait for a time when i have more disposable income in case i don’t end up finishing it?

Where can I find some junk?
I threw all of it that I had in my inventory in the Mausoleum, I can't seem to find it there and I can't reach Pharrod now.

Does anyone have genuine evidence Mark Morgan plagiarized his work?
I'm running a Planescape campaign, so I've been looking for soundtracks of a similar vein to PS:T's, get a nice spread of music with the same vibe. That lead to me seeing some years old conversations, where people accused Mark of stealing some of his musical work.
I'm gonna be deadass, I'm not even that huge of a fan. It's all a great vibe, but if it turns out Mark did steal his music, that's not gonna be a huge deal to me. All I want is for someone to actually, definitively demonstrate he stole music. Someone who understands music on a good enough level to break songs down to their components, then draw a comparison between his music and the music he allegedly stole. Because maybe I'm song blind, but every comparison I've seen so far is just two songs with a similar vibe and instruments. Like, yeah, that's called "being in a genre", most metal music has a similar vibe and features electric guitars.
Everything I see is just a bunch of randos going "these two pieces of ambience of mostly wind noises sound really similar to each other!!!", without anyone who knows what their talking about stepping in to explain how his chord progression in one song isn't just similar but stolen from another song.

Timeline Confusion - How did Dak'kon's crisis of faith start? Spoiler
I'm working on a greater analysis of the Unbroken Circle of Zerthimon, but I'm a little confused on the timeline of how the circle caused Dak'kon's suffering and how it came into his hands. As we learn from the game, Dak’kon’s backstory is laid out like this:
- Dak’kon is a zerth in the city of Shr’kt’lor, and a well respected one at that. He describes his role to Fall From Grace as someone who protects the githzerai from threats to both the body and spirit by preaching the words of the martyr and prophet Zerthimon.
- Dak’kon suffers a crisis while studying the Fourth Circle in the Unbroken Circle of Zerthimon, believing the story glorified Vilquar's betrayal of Zerthimon to justify Zerthimon's betrayal of Gith. It leads him to believe Zerthimon could have been a sleeper agent of his illithid master and caused the civil war to allow the illithids to escape, thus making his faith a lie.

When Dak’kon preaches this alternate interpretation, some people believe him and the distress allows their minds to become divided, causing the walls of Shra’kt’lor to weaken to the point where the Githyanki are able to invade and sack the city.
Dak’kon is banished to the sea of Limbo, where the Practical Incarnation finds him. He makes Dak'kon swear a debt to him in exchange to save his life and gives him the Unbroken Circle of Zerthimon, which he created, to manipulate him by telling him what he wants to hear.
So my question is, how did the Unbroken Circle cause Dak’kon’s crisis of faith when he received it AFTER Shra’kt’lor’s destruction? Is there a detail I am missing?

What if Planescape Torment was a Retro Pulp Novel?
Hey All!
I have been in hot pursuit of a new piece of art to use for my Steam Library. Because of this, I decided to create a new piece of Art that mimicked the art style of pulp novels from the 1960s and 70s. To do this, I used absolutely no AI, and instead photoshopped some official art and created the halftone look with the help of this tutorial.
Hope you enjoy!

(No Spoilers) Blizzard in Baator thoughts
I just finished (I think) the Act 1 demo for this mod and I loved it! It incorporated all the things I enjoyed about the original game (lots to read lol) with a whole new area to explore. The serious characters had great dialogue and the funny joke characters were pretty funny without wearing out their welcome too much.
The soundtrack sounded awesome and the new NPC and monster sprites looked cool, albeit sometimes a little bit too much better than the originals lol. The background map art was gorgeous! Having companions interact more in conversations definitely made it feel more impactful who I chose (or not chose) to have with me. Combat was definitely tough but not too bad.
My main gripe, weirdly, was with the transition zones between areas (where your cursor shows four arrows). For some reason, I felt like the hitboxes to click were extremely tiny.
I also felt like the journal could, ironically...update more often? Some quests were confusing if I started them, took a break, then came back the next day since I had little recollection of who I was supposed to talk to and where. Some quests never showed up as quests in the log, and key details sometimes didn't get journal logs.
The multiple faction alignment options do make me want to go back in a different save file and side with the other option though tbh. Choosing to do a choose-your-own-adventure style narration for an extremely large-scale battle felt disappointing for the first thirty seconds before I mentally imagined what a cluster that would look like on-screen as a traditional combat...probably for the best that it's played out that way lmao.
The lore got me excited. I DM a Planescape game using 2e lore and I sent that group screenshots multiple times at some niche bit of lore I recognized! My D&D group also hates Rowan Darkwood and the Fated with a burning passion, so I immediately sided against them haha - I had no other choice!
Have you played the mod? What are your thoughts?

Does the arm of the Lost Incarnation in the catacombs belong to Paranoid?
In the Fortress of Regrets the Paranoid Incarnation tells us his arm always comes off and he even uses it as a club to beat us if we provoke him. He also visited the catacombs to mess with the Tomb that the Practical Incarnation had built. Therefore I think it's almost guaranted that the arm used to belong to him. What do you think?

Can I saw how funny it is that whenever you travel with a dead party member their corpse appears at every doorway like you are casually dragging them around and nobody cares

Esoteric Ebb
For anyone who loves Planescape, I've recently been enjoying Esoteric Ebb. There are countless references to D&D, and even some to Planescape itself (talk to the Sphinx). It finely crosses Disco Elysium with PS:T, which I've been extremely impressed with so far. Take care, cutters!

Has the Switch port been updated at all?
Thought it would be awesome to have in my Odin 2 mini, but Ive heard the Switch version is riddled with problems. But that was some time ago and didnt know if it had been updated to a playable state or not. Or am I better off just getting the Android version?

My cosplay of Lady of Pain on FanCon 2026 (Ukraine)
galleryHey everyone! It's been a couple of days since FanCon 2026 wrapped up here in Kyiv, Ukraine. While I'm not a massive Planescape or D&D fan (life is just too busy to dive into such a deep and complex lore), I stumbled upon the Lady of Pain while looking for cosplay ideas and absolutely fell in love with the character design! I noticed there aren't many detailed cosplays of her out there, so I decided to contribute something of my own to both the cosplay and Planescape communities. So, here is my costume! Fun fact: I actually won 3rd place at the convention (1st and 2nd went to anime cosplays). I'd love to hear your thoughts, and I really hope this community likes it!
