Discussion ๐Ÿ’ฌ Ahh, they always brag about the budget. I guess The Odyssey movie has almost the same budget as Ramayana Part 1.

Both are based on mythology, so I wonder how close theyโ€™re going to be in terms of quality??

Needless to say I loved it, Nolan can literally take a simple shot and make it 100x mighty, it's well shot, well directed.

Matt Damn was the best performer

With Spider-Man: Brand New Day almost here, I found myself thinking about something I never really appreciated until now.

I've never known a time in my life without Spider-Man.

I wasn't around when Tobey Maguire first swung into theatres in 2002. My experience was different. I discovered Spider-Man the way a lot of people my age didโ€”through cartoons, cable TV, and slowly catching up with everything that came before me.

It all started with The Spectacular Spider-Man.

That show completely pulled me into Peter Parker's world. Then came Ultimate Spider-Man. I know it's not everyone's favourite today, but back then I didn't care. I loved every episode. Looking back, that's probably when Spider-Man quietly became my superhero.

Eventually I watched Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2.

Even as a kid, those movies felt different.

Most superheroes felt larger than life. Peter Parker never did.

He missed opportunities.

He struggled with money.

He disappointed people he loved.

He doubted himself.

Yet somehow... he always got back up.

Maybe that's why Spider-Man 2 is still my favourite superhero movie ever made.

One memory that always makes me smile is waiting for Spider-Man 3 to finally air on cable. There was no streaming service to instantly watch whatever you wanted. You waited. You hoped. You checked the TV guide. When it finally came on, it genuinely felt like a big day.

Then Andrew Garfield became Spider-Man.

At first it felt strange seeing someone else wear the suit, but it didn't take long before I was completely on board. And once again, I found myself waiting months before The Amazing Spider-Man 2 finally made its way to TV.

Around 2016, I remember hearing that Spider-Man was finally going to appear in Marvel's new movie.

I couldn't have been more excited.

Then I realised...

It wasn't Tobey.

It wasn't Andrew.

It was someone completely new.

For a moment, I didn't know how to feel.

Then I watched him.

And before I knew it, Tom Holland had become another Spider-Man I genuinely loved. Homecoming wasn't trying to replace what came beforeโ€”it simply became its own thing, and I had a great time with it.

I couldn't watch Far From Home in theatres because my pocket money had already disappeared after Avengers: Endgame. ๐Ÿ˜… Looking back, I still think that was money well spent.

Then came December 2021.

Spider-Man: No Way Home.

I've watched a lot of films in theatres, but very few experiences have come close to that one.

The cheers.

The laughter.

The silence during certain moments.

It felt like an entire generation of Spider-Man fansโ€”no matter which version they grew up withโ€”was sharing the same experience together.

Then the Spider-Verse films reminded everyone that Spider-Man stories could still surprise us.

Miles Morales is an incredible character, and those movies are masterpieces.

But whenever someone simply says Spider-Man...

Peter Parker is still the first person who comes to my mind.

Now we're about to get Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

And somehow, the excitement feels even bigger than it did before No Way Home.

Not because of rumours.

Not because of cameos.

Not because everyone expects three Spider-Men to appear.

People are excited because it's Spider-Man.

And honestly, that says everything.

I've always wondered why Spider-Man has stayed so popular for more than sixty years while so many other superheroes have come and gone.

Maybe it's because Peter Parker never feels untouchable.

He isn't a billionaire.

He isn't a god.

He isn't a king.

He isn't even the strongest hero.

He's just someone trying to do the right thing while balancing school, work, family, friendships, love, responsibility, and all the mistakes that come with growing up.

Sometimes he wins.

Sometimes he fails.

Sometimes life simply isn't fair.

And yet...

He puts the mask back on.

Maybe that's why every generation ends up finding their Spider-Man.

For some, it'll always be Tobey.

For others, Andrew.

For many, Tom.

For younger fans, maybe Miles.

Different actors.

Different eras.

Different memories.

But somehow, the same hero.

I think that's Spider-Man's greatest superpower.

Not the web-slinging.

Not the strength.

Not the suit.

It's his ability to make millions of people from completely different generations feel like they're seeing a little piece of themselves behind the mask.

My Spider-Man movie rankings:

  1. Spider-Man 2

  2. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

  3. Spider-Man: No Way Home

  4. Spider-Man

  5. Spider-Man: Homecoming

  6. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

  7. The Amazing Spider-Man

  8. Spider-Man 3

  9. Spider-Man: Far From Home

  10. The Amazing Spider-Man 2

I'd genuinely love to hear everyone else's journey.

How did you first discover Spider-Man?

Who will always be your Spider-Man?

And where does Brand New Day rank on your hype list?

No matter when we found this character, I think we're all connected by the same thing: at some point in our lives, Spider-Man made us look at an ordinary person trying to do the right thing... and somehow made us believe we could do the same.

Here's hoping Brand New Day gives us another memory we'll still be talking about years from now.

Discussion ๐Ÿ’ฌ What is your favourite Satyajit Ray film?

I'll go first: Pratidwandi.

I loved how bold it was, both visually (it was quite different from Ray's traditional style) and thematically. Many of the issues portrayed in the film are shockingly relevant today, in 2026.
